not at people keep calling SHINee "mid-tier" when they are 2nd best selling their generation

Even if they didn't have the peaks of groups like BigBang or SuJu, their fandom and sales talks for themselves... on the top 4 of boygroups from that gen for sure. My theory is because they debuted later than any of those groups, people compare them more to the likes of EXO (same company and started 3rd gen) so they think that everything on 2nd gen below TVXQ or BigBang was mid-tier.
For the groups that debut mid-generations, people have ambiguous idea of where they are standing
For me personally, I generally dont check numbers. I didnt bother to verify other people's claim. Now its kinda funny looking at the numbers

oh boy do I feel this with NCT... I'm sure there are a lot of people who when thinking of 3rd gen top groups would think of GOT7 or Monsta X before than the neos... Debuting when a gen is ending is the WORSE, you are late for your gen so you gonna be compared from the start to already stablished groups, and you don't form part of the new gen either so you won't get the "first 4th gen to" competition aspect and treatment, it's bad on both ways for the general pov of the success of a group.

Unfortunately, they're nowhere near one million. Here are their Gaon physical sales figures (compiled by halfdavid on Twitter):
Wonder Girls: 374,320
Hyuna: 88,601
Sunmi: 49,739
TOTAL: 517,369
But again, I do not condone stacking solo and group sales on top of one another.
