Do you think idols rely too much on their facial expressions for stage presence rather than their skills?

  • I was watching this vid and everyone has a mask on and you cant see their expressions.

The dancers are not even in the same team and they got more synchronization, chemistry and charisma than most kpop groups.

They simply just captivate you with their skills

  • Well there are instances where I've focused more on a dancer than the idol themselves. But usually idols tend to be good at commanding attention on stage, even if the backup dancers are better. Of course, the outfits and camerawork play a huge role in it too. I mean while the dancers are good, they are specialized and don't sing/rap etc.

  • no, I dont think what youre talking about is common and I think truly captivating ones can do both. when a group is not synchronized but do goofy faces they aren't impactful on stage, and when a group is dancing well but look bored they seem unprofessional and boring. A good performer can do both. Maybe you're saying this in defense of aespa (bc I know you like them) but really their dance has been criticized before so they're still lacking there

No I'm saying to promote Kim Kibum best boy

He got more stage presence with the mask than all of 4th gen

  • I never understood the obsession with facial expression.

It's all about dance for me. The choreo and the execution. If they can sing live to it, fine, but that's not necessary for Kpop, i'd rather be moved by a great tune and catchy choreo than have to listen to out of breath unsupported vocals that are basically just shouting in tune or be wowed by facial gestures. I mean, it's impressive af when a group can do that, but it's not necessary, and i would prefer better songs, better choreo, and better dance than vocals or facial expressions.

  • depends of the group, also stage presence is not only about facial expressions, is having energy, knowing how to hype the crowd, being natural on stage, you can achieve this from different ways, depends of each individual
