Why are people here mentioning EXO? Xoxo did NOT sell 1M. Unless you're going to combine the main album and the repack, both of which already came in two forms (Korean and Chinese). Come on, that's an absurd comparison.
Anyway, it's still too early to write Aespa off as a million seller after a few hours of preorders. Let the girls grow at their own pace. It would great for them if they sell 1M, but even if they don't it would still be a great number.

its been known back then that exo sold 1 million copies of xoxo (combined with the repackaged version) this was the norm back then. Just because things are different now doesnt change the title that they got back then. They were credited for breaking the 12 year drought. The only thing different was there was 2 versions. Korean and Chinese. Which is stupid to make it seperate because its the same album just sung in different language. Whats the difference between that and groups selling multiple versions of the same album with different covers/formats?

The difference is it's an entirely different album with a different registration code. Even gaon considers them as 2 different products. You're practically combining 4 albums together and comparing them to one EP because of semantics, that's simply absurd.
Let's just put it this way, EXO sold 1M and broke records with the Xoxo / Growl era. This thread is talking about groups selling 1M with their 2nd physical release (since in Aespa's case it isn't even an album but an EP). EXO's 2nd physical release was Xoxo period and iirc it sold around half a million.

not op but I don't think the korean/chinese versions should be separated since like you said it's the same album, just like today groups release target exclusive versions and it's counted as the same album.
but there's no way we can consider a repackage as the same as the main album. people don't do that now because we realized there's a big difference among the releases. that applies to xoxo too, even if it was considered normal back then it's not a million seller by todays standards and by gaon certifications.

meh i see what you mean but either way its not 4 albums combined. Xoxo only had 2 versions (korean & chinese) its repackaged also only got 2 versions (korean & chinese). Literally the same tracklist only difference was xoxo had wolf as the title track. and xoxo repackaged had growl has the title track. Back then groups use to come back with 2 title tracks per comeback. So fine, you can say the xoxo album sold half a million.
but i just find it dumb how people dont wanna combine korean+chinese. when other groups have different album covers, versions, formats (kihnos, lps, USBs ffs) and it gets considered as one.

Well, I said xoxo sold half a million. I think they did that with the Korean and Chinese versions combined right? So I'm not insisting on separating them. It's just that I think we should all stick to Gaon's reports and certifications because it's the official, government-endorsed chart. And according to gaon, things like different covers are considered like album inclusions, same as photocards or posters or all the mersh that come with an album. Meanwhile things like different language versions, kihnos,m etc are considered as different products that are counted separately in the charts. Fandoms nowadays don't even combine regular albums with kihno versions or they explicitly clarify they're doing so. It's probably because of how gain certifications work.
