And once they are successfull like Wanna One can't Mnet negotiate a new contract? Maybe it's the members' companies that just don't see it worth it and want the hype of their trainees to affect them as quick as possible

It's pretty crazy because the touring which would come after some time is the thing that would bring them the most profit, but I guess it's a win-win situation. It's just so weird that with such demand their groups are so short-lived.

Not their forte, I guess. Concerts take a lot of work and effort.
Because it’s all about quick cash.
Produce gets a huge chuck of interest from the tv show so Mnet milks that as much as possible including drumming up fake controversies through editing. Once a group debuts they are going to put their time and money into keeping a group active for 5 or 10 years so they offer short contracts. In the mean time the next season of produce is already in the works and the cycle repeats.
It’s like how X factor/idol shows are all about the show and after the winner debuts in most cases they’re forgetter about a year later.
Goes both ways during negotiation mnet would rather create a new group than settle with less profit and companies would rather create their own group with their members than continue taking a smaller share.
business is business and at the end of the day kpop companies are in the business of making money
