Bts/BP/Twice’s members Instagram follower rankings. Any surprises?

    No surprises at all. Blackpink dominate the global social media game with a landslide.

    BTS members should be atleast in 80-90M plus range if they opened their IG accounts since the start or during the Dyna promotion. In general, they lost a lot of potential followers that don't follow group acc, and those ex-fans from before who are now not interested in BTS. Their fandom today makes up from post Dynamite era. Atleast, V and JK's following numbers would catch up to their group account numbers at the end of this year or early next year. Twice is in the same dilemma. And blackpink of course would have more.

    Kinda expected Sana will be most followed Twice member, then Nayeon & other foreign line.


    With BTS, it is obvious maknae will have more followers. I just thought Jin will be more in between maknae and rap line, like his followers will not be this close to the other hyungs. The akgaes are missing out on RM's and Hobi's aesthetics for sure.


    Blackpink's follower ranking is given. Lisa is queen. I just thought Jennie's followers will be closer to Lisa's than those of Rose's and Jisoo's.

    Followers are one thing. Blackpink has a lot more time to gain them. They had their Instagram since 2018. Twice has the least because they just made their Instagram account. BTS Instagram account is also just 5 months old.


    What you need to see is the likes per post, that shows you the greatest engagement ie those who follows you, really follows and likes your posts. Right now, Taehyung is the one with the most engagement.. His likes (and most of BTS members) surpassed Lisa who has the most followers. His most liked post is of his dog, with nearly 20M likes.. his post has the range of 10-15M likes. Lisa is around 8-10M likes. So yes it’s good to look at followers but you need to look at engagements too.

    So the OP’s title is wrong. Followers does not equal engagement

    this is what people should realize. BTS accounts are fairly new but they still have an engagement similar to an account of 100M+ folllowers.

    Tzuyu isn't as powerful as some fans like to point out, she peaked early in popularity and hasn't benefited from the recent growth of kpop as her fans mainly lie in East Asia which is already a mature market for kpop.


    In all honesty even though it hasn't been too long Twice's followers are still less than I would have expected. The fact that the gap between top and bottom is also pretty small makes me think they all missed out on solo popularity in the end. Relying on the same group fans for everything is a limitation in itself and the lack of individuality and diversity is probably why they don't get big endorsements as individuals.

    This ranking is based on the overall popularity of the member not only in a fandom. Sana, lisa and V are the most well known members.

    I remember Before money lisa couldn’t get over 10m but now she can surpass that easily and her most liked is 14mill

    I expected at least 7M for all Twice members as they are only behind BP (GG wise). How many days since they got their personal Instagrams?

    BTS, I'm surprised with RM being the last and the difference between the followers still being small.

    BP, nothing new here.

    At the end of this year, i think all of bts will have 50-60M, with jk and tae probably even a lot more.

    not surprised with BPs numbers, they were leading insta followers & they still gain great amounts daily.

    i'm a bit surprised with twice tho... i expected them to reach 10-15m very quickly and then stabilise.

    the only social media apps they dominate is insta followers & yt subs and insta followers is mostly because they have their accounts since 2018. ML will soon surpass Rose & Jisoo and that after having insta for less than a year. However, Lisa's number is quite impressive.

    bts' engagement is something else... even the "least" popular bts members get usually 8-10 million likes, when that's what BPs most popular member usually gets with 77m followers.

    a lot of his pictures have 18m+ likes and his Tannie (his dog) photo has almost 20M likes & is in the top20 most liked insta posts ever. He's already beating Selena with just a dog pic.


    I think, if jk ever feels confident enough, a sexy pic of his tattoo sleeve would break insta..

    I suspect as the year goes on and into 2023(pending solo work and promos) Each Twice member will pass 8-10 million followers and some will likely push 12-15(Sana, Nayeon, etc) as they post more or with the solo and 'unit' work coming up.

    Twice - not really, though I'm a bit surprised Momo is second and Jihyo is lower than I expected. In my ranking Mina and Jihyo would be moved up to 2nd and 3rd.


    It's not surprising that Blackpink's engagement has dropped. Their fans followed for music, not for updates on the latest collections of YSL, Chanel, Celine and Dior. Also boy groups just tend to get higher engagement. Girl groups don't attract as much obsessive stanning.

    V having most engagement out of all and breaking guiness records is the most impressive.

    The bts ranking is quite predictable if you know their popularity within the fandom

    Maknae line in that order, then jin, then rap line

    Expected RM or Yoongi at the bottom

    This just means that BTS have more hardcore stans and sasaengs, and that BP have more casual fans and fans from the general public instead of the standard k-pop scene.

    Yoongi definitely isn't at the bottom, he's been 4th most searched male idol on google for the last 3 years, and in top 5 overall (along with either iu or lisa). J-hope has always been last but he's the most followed member on Instagram after ML. I'm not saying this to put down other members. I'm trying to say that specific platforms attract certain users. I don't use Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, I'm not interested in them. I only use Twitter.


    Google search can be rigged too but IMO that's the most reliable proof we can get of one's popularity.

    Jin has more solos. Suga is more liked by fandom. And Google search isn't rigged.

    Previously insta followers and likes were the most important metric to tell who the most popular k-pop idol was but I wonder why that has changed now.

    Nobody here said it, but as you are saying it yes, their solo power seems little looking at their numbers specially when onces were being so loud about Twice worldwide popularity.

    I can't believe BTS Instagram accounts after only 5 months old? With that much followers?

    It's surprising that BTS hasn't overtaken BP yet. They have the much bigger fandom.


    The engagement rating is misleading. Yes, BTS posts get tons of likes, but way less comments than BP. BP have better quality of audience scores. It's why BP members are rated in top 25 despite having much fewer followers than other celebrities.


    Anyway, this is totally unfair to TWICE. BTS & BP are anomlies. Everyone looks horrible in comparison.
