I think tipping is only a big thing in North America.
Frankly after covid it's gone off the charts and it's one of the reasons I actually don't like to eat out.
Alot of places do mandatory 30 percent tip charge, and encourage you to tip even more. Most servers don't even do their basics job to get that much tip. I have had the food arrive cold at the table more than once and they argued back instead of changing it. This place was actually very good before covid.
I actually prefer it much if they charge proper prices on the menue and just pay living wages to the servers and the kitchen staff.
Some places even expect you to tip on take out now which is like????
I liked eating out in Asia alot more. Your bill was just what you ordered.
