Naeun had a comeback with Apink while being in a different company in early 2022 (before she left the group for good)
2PM's last comeback happened after Taecyeon left JYP (2021)
All of GOT7 left the company, managed to get their trade mark, then have a comeback despite being in 7 different companies with different schedules. Thats honestly much more impressive to me. They came back in early 2022.
Thats just off the top of my head really, there's more examples (Monsta X I.M). There's also Wheeinwho is kind of an edge case.
Only one fandom. Actually, even that doesn't fit the question entirely.
I would say Orbits, but I would be lying if I didnt laugh a little at their tours constantly flopping and one of their spin-off groups disbanding within a year.
If the fandom put 1/10th of the effort they put on online draggings of other groups, into actually supporting their group, the member who recently said she has no money would be driving around in a Bentley by now.

The most credited female group EVER (Moobyul as the most credited female Idol ever with 120+ songs) with more than 180 songs!

Wonder how many Kpop Idols Cyndi Lauper mentioned in her career! Biggest flex ever, probably!

Okay, I think I myself fell for company stan propaganda, cause I didnt even know about some of these achievements. That many songs with over 1M ULs is very impressive.
They are currently bigger, which is not at all what the thread is asking. (G)I-dle were but a mere blip on the radar during RV's peak, so let's not pretend their peaks overlap for convenience's sake. The fact that (G)I-dle aren't really a 3rd gen group, making them more difficult to compare, is the entire point.
I understand the question just fine, thank you. They are currently bigger AND overall bigger.
If they're counted as a third gen group, all else remaining the same (as thread asks) this isnt really a debate.
I dont knowenough about Mamamoo to really judge (Although I really respect them as a group), so I'll stay out of that discussion. But they've surpassed Red Velvet with ease, and anybody who says otherwise is shrouded in nostalgia bias.
The only thing RV leads in is the size of the online fanbase, and even then it's cause they're propped up by company stans.

I love how this tweet is literal misinformation and people ran with it, lmao.
The more I think about it, I think Red Velvet might have the most over-inflated legacy, honestly. People talk about Psycho and Bad Boy and thats pretty much it.
Mamamoo is tons more memorable than them and really pushed the envelope with their concepts, whereas RV is a F(x) rehash with a discography that isnt quite as good.
This is the release that got me into them, early 2021-ish. I discovered them like a day before Soojin was put on hiatus and group basically dispersed for a year. It was like "oh well, just my luck", not knowing what was in store to come.
Theyre one of my ult groups, but there's barely any talk about them so I'm mostly a lurker here.
