Womp womp.
If orbits put 10% of the effort into supporting their own group's members as they do with picking fights online, the venue would've been long sold out by now.

I was aware that their sales dropped, but didnt know it was by an entire 50%. That's pretty rough.
Hopefully they bounce back for next release.
It's not GG. Sones and SM stans gaslit everyone to believing they destroyed everyone, when in reality 2NE1 was maybe a half step behind at most, and even leading in some metrics (more streams on melon, for example, despite not releasing anything after 2014).
Twice's reign was impressive with nine straight number one singles. I dont think anyone will ever (besides sistar) will ever that level of success over THAT many comebacks ever again.
2019-2022 Blackpink was just completely dominating internationally though, set records for album sales, and charted on the Hot 100 like it was no big deal. I think my vote goes to them by an inch over Twice.
Kiof success is well deserved....
It's a bit of monkey's paw for me though, like THIS song is one to do it? It's their worst title track, and Julie being sexy carries it. But whatever, it's no big deal. Happy to see a non-big 4 gg rise.
A few eyes will be on Stayc, if they dont get to 250k UL at least, it will further confirm my theory that 4th gen is on the decline.
But most eyes will be on Idle next week. With NJ and Ive underperforming, i consider them the #1 GG in Korea. I'm expecting them to match or exceed Supernova during the literal peak of Melon UL season. We'll see if they can do that.
Nevie here, dont get your hopes too high. This feels like a low budget filler comeback (by idle standards) mandated by Cube so they can milk their cash cow as much as possible before their first contract runs out. It's really soon after the last one, and the hype just isnt there. I'm just hoping it does better than Super Lady.
No.
YHS is unanimously hated by most kpop I-fans.
Min Heejin is divisive, with many hating her, but many others being staunch defenders.
Discussion works in a way that someone can say "YHS sucks" everyone will agree and move on with our lives.
If someone says "MHJ sucks", an all-out argument begins, that will last for days. So it appears that she's more hated.
If I were to be completely honest, I think Birthday and Chill Kill were very subpar songs that didnt land with most people, and killed the hype surrounding them.
Cosmic is good but fell victim to that said lack of hype.
Great groups that have fun music, but with awful fanbases. (Not here, in the rest of the internet)
I enjoyed Supernova, which heightened my excitement for the title track.
What in the GOT the beat leftover is this? I couldve slept earlier.
While I totally disagree with you OP, I approve of this thread because it makes the annoying Yama person seethe 👍
I maintain Releasing an MV with a song NOT being on streaming at the time is so ass backwards. I was also really annoyed when Itzy did it like, their last three comebacks in a row.
Pre-releases satiate some of the pent-up hype, and the main release would do a bit worse than it usually would (at least on debut). However the trade off is worth it many cases.
But with a pre-release MV only, not only does the 10 months of pent-up hype die down, you get zero benefit on any streaming platforms, and subsequently charting.
As much as I dislike Hybe, I dont think this is "Hybe sabotage". I also dont think the average NewJeans listener in the US is necessarily a Hybe stan and/or tuning in the MHJ drama. It's just a very poorly thought-out rollout of the songs.
Display MoreGidle literally just got a PAK. 4 PAKs in a row.
Their exceptionally strong (as always) on Youtube Charts, they double (and triple) anyone else's digital domestic sales in China (yes, even Aespa) and some of their strongest markets are China and Russia, places where Spotify is not (because I can foresee the next argument coming).
Each of the groups have strengths and weaknesses. I wouldn't say they've 'beaten anyone', but obviously can't deny their spotify results is a big leap up for them and well done for doing so.
Aespa/LSF/Idle/IVE are all basically equivalent in 4th gen, each having strengths and weaknesses in certain areas - at least digitally, as it pertains to this chat.
Unpopular opinion I know, to not try to have stack groups above one another.
Yeah, youre right actually. My bad.
Girl that's random wth
I really didnt mean to derail this thread, but sure, I'll explain. I'm a Neverland (that probably explains a lot on it own, but I'll elaborate).
In 2018, Gidle "stole" a music show win from Loona, during the Hann era. Orbits have had a one sided vendetta against the group since then, spouting a lot of vile shit, especially about Soyeon. Here's a thread from 2020 that merely scratches the surface (and doesn't even include 2020 through now, tbh), and some of this goes way beyond your typical fanwars, like hacking Soyeon's fan song on youtube. Reddit would be filled with similarly sus comments.
This goes beyond fandoms I'm in. You can Buddies/Nav's too, for the shit they cop because gfriend "stole" loona's wins during the crossroads era. You can ask Ujungs how exy has been treated by orbits for the past two years, because they cant get over losing in queendom 2. Ask triple s fans how well orbits have treated their junior group. I can go on.
People say "The fandom shouldn't effect your perception of the group" and I agree. But just this once, I cant lie, its a bit cathartic. seeing everything with BBC and the lawsuits go down, disbandment, forming into floundering small groups. Idk which one, but one of the groups had a failed tour where half their stops got cancelled, and now they're performing in malls. I'm sitting with my popcorn in hand and enjoying the absolute trainwreck.
While everything between HYBE, BSH, Ador, and MHJ is complete mess, the girls did nothing wrong to ever make me wish their disbandment. I hope they can continue somehow and continue to trailblaze their own path in the industry.
Infact, there's only one group ever I prayed for the downfall of, and that pretty much happened already. So I'm content.
