Well now that I look at the logos again actually, they're not unfitting, they're just not something I understand as being old fashioned until I examine them closely and think about it. For the ones I pointed out I didn't need to think about it like that
Since I was born in the early 2000's, I have a better idea of like the 2010's, than 2000-2010.
I am not sure when people said y2k. Does that mean like 2000-2005? Cause then I would truly have no idea since I would barely remember anything from that time. If it means like 2000-2010 maybe I have some idea.
I think you were born and grew up after y2k which ended around 2008 the big recession maybe max 2010. Y2k is turning of the century around late 90’s and very early 2000’s when old school meets futuristic ideals when everyone thought y2k was the year the world was ending because 21st century technology too scary.
New jeans is actually very late y2k in their styling leaning more towards mcbling not TRUE y2k but what everything thinks y2k is, honestly to me it’s still y2k because these two aesthetics overlap too closely in years. they are still doing a fantastic job mixing certain y2k Elements with more modern elements which gives the nostalgic feeling while still remaining “fresh” which is what People claim is unique.
Other groups have done y2k but it ended in just crop tops maybe fuzzy boots and a butterfly clip, if they’re feeling brave, but NWJNs made it their whole thing; sound, concept, fonts, graphics, CD designs, even the Korean website is reminiscent of the IMac computers I used back then. The ditto MV is y2k for Koreans because that was what the 90s and early 2000s looked like for them in that era in time.
Ya’ll say they aren’t unique and other groups have done this then tell me who so I can Stan too??? Don’t show me mashup noise music, bad rap and dance break kpop with a bunch of girls wearing jerseys and crop tops, that’s not the vibe.
