I really liked that the interview was artist-to-artist, in that they focused on the creation process, the role of artists's identity, and how their art fits into the world at large. It's a rare and non-tabloidy form that shows the immense two-way respect between them and such a rare thing for artists of their stature tbh.

LOVED the choice of performances, those 3 tracks (won't spoil) are in my Top 5 tracks for either artist respectively

Also, the hour-long Lollapalooza set is confirmed to have about 16-17 songs oh my lord

IMO on the whole, that's a positive development because it's an early sign of their massive crossover potential. Breaking out of the typical HYBE consumption model means that a lot of their hype seems to stem from a genuine resonance with the public.

The debut album of the new girl group NewJeans (Minji, Hani, Daniel, Haerin, Hyein) is receiving explosive responses as soon as pre-orders start.

New Jeans' debut album 'New Jeans', which went on pre-order on July 25, recorded 444,000 pre-orders as of July 27, the third day of pre-order.

In particular, the 'New Jeans Bag' version of the unique composition of the PIN-UP BOOK decorated with members' photos, photo cards, and CDs in a round bag was sold out on July 26th.

By boldly omitting the teasing stage, New Jeans succeeded in winning the hearts of K-pop fans in a short time with high-quality music and content even though there was little pre-promotion. "arab" as a catch-all just completely ignores the diverse ethnic and intense regionalist sentiments of that area, they're not a monolithic people. That would certainly be much more controversial among Qatar and its neighbours.

FIFA fans are generally not the most welcoming types as a baseline, so I appreciate FIFA choosing a surefire winner of an act, and I appreciate BTS getting that bag and GTFO of there lol

Yeah I just checked this out, they change up a lot of the drum parts to be less 'anthemic' and more driving and meaty and it gives the track a big boost. Also alleviated (edit: relieved) that they sound so strong live. I'm hoping for less perfection and more rawness live (ie. lose the mic stands or headsets, go handheld and just BELT). As a person who has been to many many festivals that sort of thing resonates way more with the crowd (though I understand they have to balance that against the fact that the set will be downloaded, cut up and discussed on the internet for a long long time after the show)

I respect the fuck out of any group that uses a live band, especially with a Western festival crowd. The 2021 releases are so primed to absolutely SMASH as live renditions, hopefully they can loosen up with the choreo and just wild out at Lolla

Also good on Consequence of Sound for giving the group some exposure from a more serious journalistic perspective, loved the article
