haha actually when I'm wondering what Kpop group or act comeback is approaching I don't go on google, I just log in here to see which act has multiple troll threads.

Super Shy was #1 for 50 days, which was more than OMG and the only song by any artist to do so in 2023 outside of Ditto. It was also the top ranked song on the 2023 Gallup Survey. It was released within a week of the biggest idol on the planet, Jungkook, and had to hold him off for said 50 days or they would've reigned even longer at the top.
More importantly, it charted on the Billboard Hot 100 for 8 weeks, which is the second most ever behind only Cupid, and the most weeks NewJeans has ever stayed on the chart.
So, in many ways, it outdid their other songs, and it is easily their most successful song globally.
Super Shy slander won't work here, friend.
Plus I already said NewJeans HAVE peaked in Korea. There is literally nothing more they can accomplish. They broke all PAK the records. Got all the daesangs. Topped Gallup. Sold the most albums on Circle in a single year ever. Anything else is padding.
International/Global achievement is where NewJeans has much room to grow still.
That was one big word salad to say Ditto was the bigger hit, the song of the year etc.
And how dare you say NewJeans peaked. Your days are numbered.

Chaeyoung absolutely. I NEED a rap track from her, in her style, in her own words. She's been nothing but a team player, and frankly it's time to let her talents loose.
Jeongyeon also would've been good, but I get the sense she's not interested in a solo at this time. I think she's still determined first to get back to 100%.
Dahyun will forever be my bias, but I don't know that a solo career would work for her. She's kind of the jack of all trades but master of none. I think she'd be a good songwriter though.
Tzuyu never seemed interested in a solo singing career but I could be wrong.

Supremacy.

The fact they tried the triple title track promotion strategy and it flopped compared to what others have accomplished. More importantly, Baddie is nowhere near the hit I Am was. I need to be convinced they can score another hit as big as I Am or Love Dive.
Both of those songs are national hits. Baddie was not.
We'll see on their next comeback. I could be wrong.
WHAT. Are you for real with that take? Super Shy is nowhere near the hit that OMG, Ditto, or Hype Boy was. Should we declare NJ peaked? I can't wait for that thread and you better not make that thread because then I will CAMPAIGN for your ban!

I legitimately think it was debatable until 2020 when Twice finally broke through the western market.
SNSD was number 1 in Korea longer relative to their own generation. But they struggled with their global expansion on exception of Japan. The same thing was happening to Twice though I'd say they were bigger in Japan than SNSD. Regardless Twice broke through in the west and that's been the difference maker.

Pop Stars is better. No contest.

Anyone saying missA was a failure NEEDED to be around that time to understand that they weren't doing terrible. I think obviously the optics of being sandwiched between Girls Generation/Wonder Girls and Blackpink/Twice skews the impact but still very solid. Listen Suzy doesn't become big if they were abject failures.

I'm interested in all the top GG acts but the one GG has to be XG for me. I think NJ, LSF, IVE, they're on solid ground where I don't anticipate anything to sink their popularity, at least not immediately.
XG though, whooo let me tell you, had musically a great 2023. They didn't blow up to take them fully out of nugu status, but there are legit eyes on them. 2024 can possibly be the year they blow up. I mean it feels SO close. Its right there. They got the all around talent. On exception of TGIF, every song last year was an earworm, and Winter Without You was the perfect cap to finally buy my loyalty. I WANT them to have a revelation track in 2024, just like Shooting Star made everyone take notice. So let's go.

missA wasn't so much a failure but rather a victim of mismanagement. While I don't think they would've hit Wonder Girls' peak, JYP himself mismanaged them enough to cut them at the legs too early in their careers as well as inadvertently sowing seeds of discontent within the group itself. They truly did not get a real chance to optimize their potential as a collective unit.

You sonovagun you did this on purpose.

Damn right they have longevity. I prayed for Twice's downfall for years until they wore me the hell down and made me appreciate them.
You either die an Anti or you live long enough to see yourself become the Stan.

DaisyTheGenuine I know that this thread is slightly tongue in cheek, but I have to say in Korea and especially Japan the TWICE merch is damn near unparalleled. When I went to Seoul last year, I came away with brick "Lego" sets, minifigures, "gundam" models, paper models (that you build), portable chargers. It's super comprehensive.
Why do the other groups put all the bells and whistles on their albums? Because thats at this point the only time they can push extra merch out, while Twice and Blackpink can release "vanilla" album sets because people will buy the merch separately.
