I agree they really need to stop trying to be something they're not. The fans obviously don't like it. They don't even have to do super cute, but something like fancy instead. Just something bubbly because that's what Twice does best.
Clearly that bubbly stuff is not who Twice are, otherwise they as a collective unit wouldn't have moved away from it. Like they actively stay away from it. Folks like me? Once they started doing the Fancys, Alcohol-Frees, Kura Kuras, I finally fully gravitated to them because it felt more genuine to who they were and closer to what they liked plus their choreography KICKED ASS. And what about the great b-sides they wrote during the post Fancy eras? SOS, Basics, Cruel, When We Were Kids. You all missing out on legitimately good stuff if you're not giving it a chance.
And what if they stayed with their bubby concept? There's no guarantee the audience would've stayed and likely Twice don't attract the Western audience to the crazy levels as they have. KPop groups who were bubbly, historically only have about a 4 year shelf life, primarily because the target audience skews far younger and once they get older they're harder to maintain.
I mean I'm sorry they're losing some of you but just because they don't chart as consistently in Korea anymore is not indicative that their new stuff is a failure when it helped grow their audience substantially and is still high quality (I personally argue that it's far better than their old stuff but that's my opinion).
