You really don't know which idols are really trying to express themselves in their dancing but it's not really translating on screen, which idols are trying to submit songs but aren't getting accepted and which idols just had an easier time getting the choreos down die to natural talent and got into the songcredits by adding a few lyrics to a song. Gatekeeping which idol is an artist and which is not is inevitably gonna end with getting it wrong and denying a person hard work and genuine effort.

No, MHJ leaving is not what confirms it. New Jeans have given their own legal notice to Hybe and the demands that Hybe needs to meet by the 28th otherwise they'll break their contract. MHJ has left already, Hybe CAN theoretically, now complete each demand NewJeans has put to them and not give them a leg to stand when it comes to their chances of not being fully penalised if they break their contracts anyway. They won't but we already knew that. MHJ leaving is not what confirms it. MHJ and NewJeans are real close and definitely coordinating but they do not form one legal entity, there's no guarantee of them always being in the same boat.

Gorgeous, funny, great performers, like their friendship, like their title tracks and promoted B-sides.
Chaewon's performance at Coachella was solid, if she was in another group she'd be acknowledged for being the whole package as an idol.
Kazuha was scouted, comes from a non singing background, very short trainee time prior to debut after coming to Korea, is in a big company so basically has been promoted nonstop since debut, didn't speak Korean or was trained in idol choreography prior to debut, so if anyone in kpop has an excuse for not having been able to focus solely on becoming a better live performer it's probably Kazuha. There's only so much time in the day and other things she has to spend it working on. And very few people are actually good live performers while throwing their leg straight up in the air like that in every choreography.
The other three are legitimately disappointing as live singers (Sakura did better with her parts then Yunjin, Eunchae and Kazuha did with theirs but still not good) but Yunjin can obviously sing well sitting down, just apparently not as well when dancing. There's no need to equate one with the other.
After Coachella LSF received a ton of threats of violence, death and sexual assault, you have no idea how many disgusting threats reached their eyes compared to reasoned constructive criticism. All the comments insisting they really didn't mind the performance at all, only the response afterward ring real hollow to me.
Still all the Koreans that said Garam was unneeded in LSF were super wrong, they really needed another Lead Vocalist with a proper trainee period for redundancy which is exactly what Garam was.

I will point out the report is just what some employer have writen with his own words and nothing that it's some kind of offical standpoint among the management of the company. And fans/people always love do draw too big conslusion and do their own interpretations and suddenly it becomes some kind of truth that HYBE want to get rid of NJ.
These reports grossly overemphasise the visual flaws in idols from other companies because that's what their bosses want to hear, grossly overemphasise the advantages of Hybe groups like Le Sserafim because that's whats what their bosses wants to hear and came up with reasons why removing NewJeans from the top 4th gen group narrative would be a good thing because they were pretty damn sure that is what their bosses wanted hear. They got paid to make these reports and circulate them to their executive mailing list every week and this practice survived for years, they definitely had a better idea of what their bosses wanted then you do.
These reports were full of critique for non-Hybe groups and had nothing for but praise for Hybe groups other NewJeans. It's not some coincidence that these employees decided to mix things up by going after the top 4th gen girl group that is on their own payroll and also all this internal strife happened concerning that exact girl group.

I mean according to the subtitle translations Minji said she wants HYBE to "return Ador to its original state"
Maybe it's a mistranslation then

If the entire NJ fanbase is really MHJ ride or die and won't support the girls in Hybe or anywhere else without her then other companies will draw up whatever contract they have to save her from bankruptcy and get her on board because she'd definitely be worth the investment. If the entire NJ fanbase is not like that and a lot of them are loyal to the girls then they'll have a future even if they stay with Hybe or ultimately redebut somewhere else without MHJ, either way they have a future.
NJ is really really big, they'd still be really big if they shed some part of their fanbase. Most ggs survive with only a small part of what NJ has at the moment.

Eh may not be especially if they lose their ip rights which is very likely to happen in a legal battle. Plus if hybe can somehow prove that they are just acting up and not working, no agency will risk buying them knowing they can try the same tactics on them. The entertainment industry is cruel, even if you are right or wrong in a situation, you can end up blacklisted from working as you create too much "risk" to everyone.
The girls from Fifty fifty has exactly that proven about them, lost the name rights, lost a member and the battle for public opinion. They still found a new company and debuted. Hybe already screwed up too much to ever win the battle for public opinion to the same degree.
-
Exactly. These girls they might end up being 50/50 2.0 and lose hard. If they cannot provide substantial definitive proof against hybe and ador, that would allow them to terminate their contract, they will get FUCKED figuratively and legally. Hybe can she then for every penny and win plus a early termination without legitimate valid cause will leave them with a termination fine which can be hundreds of thousands of dollars or millions $ either way they would have generational debt. I sincerely hope they clearly thought this through, public opinion and popularity will NOT save you in court, court goes by logic and facts not feelings and popularity
If it's all five of them together millions of dollars of debt might be worth, they'd be worth that for another company. Better that then waste their youth while their careers are tanked by Hybe out of spite.

Any deals with NewJeans as a group will be terminated/indefinitely suspended altogether.

I feel sorry for the girls, but anyone who thinks they won't be disbanded is delusional!
NewJeans is finished, I'm like 99% sure about this. HYBE/Ador NEVER gonna do what they ask, and terminating their contracts isn't easy as breathing. They have to pay a LOT of money to HYBE and Ador to do that. So, it's either NJ accept everything HYBE wants, or the company will disband them.
Yes, they can move to another company, but not under the name of NewJeans, so if they won't do what HYBE wants, NewJeans will be over.
I would be surprised if they finish this year together as a group, but if they do, 2025 will be the end, for sure. Their fans can say, they're the biggest in Korea, and fans will be mad and protest etc, but do you think HYBE cares? They're hardly doing anything after all the shit happened with their company in the past couple of months, they won't care about a rookie group and their fans.
Just look at SME, they kicked out Seunghan from Riize for nothing, and they didn't care about what fans think.
That's what they mean by "throwing away New[Jeans] and starting over." The girls are leaving, the NewJeans name likely isn't. I doubt Hybe will ever disband the name though, it would only make it easier for MHJ to file for it.
-
Can they even do that?
They may have to pay like Fifty-fifty but they can't force them to stay.

Drama inches out Next Level and Savage for me. I listen to all three quite a bit.
