Before people started digging stuff up about Lana, they already didn't like her. She was a white girl trying to be a K-pop idol, are you serious? Let's not pretend that this is what people were actually bitching about. It was that she's white. Blame it on her getting plastic surgery to look Korean or using a Korean name (which btw, a lot of Koreans have English names also so that's a non issue), but I remember how much hate she got and it was ALL about her being white and being able to debut while other races weren't.

For me, Blackpink and now somewhat Ateez. I'm a music fan and Blackpink just doesn't release enough music for me to consider it worthwhile to fully stan them still. As for Ateez, for some reason they aren't holding my attention anymore. I still like their music and I like the members but I'm STILL BORED for some reason? I'm not sure what it is. I'm honestly going through a weird phase right now

I love IVE so this isn't about that but truthfully, even if someone didn't stan or listen to Iz*One, they're almost guaranteed to know of Wonyoung. She was basically the face of the group. When I think Iz*One I think Wonyoung. I didn't know any of the names of the other members, and I'm sure that's the case for many other people.

As an aside, same thing happened with Twice. They went from a great song in More and More to another underwhelming retro 80s style song, ICSM, which flopped. Both ICSM and Ladida arent terrible songs but they were both big disappointments because of high expectations, especially for me personally since i love 80s retro music.

Everglow i feel is vulnerable right now. I've been worried about them for a year and the rise of this next wave of 4th gen groups could really hurt them. I think only Aespa, Stayc, Itzy, and maybe Loona are safe, all of these other more marginal groups like Everglow, Rocket Punch, Cherry Bullet, etc are gonna be fighting for their lives as Ivy, Kessler, JYPNGG, and HYBENGG start debuting and growing their fandoms and popularity.

I mean in the end, it's just subjective. A lot of people think that Ladida is an A tier song. I love So Bad as well but if I had to choose between them, it will always be Ladida. It's hard to say definitively what went wrong, but I don't think it's that Ladida isn't A tier. I think it just wasn't what was expected after Dun Dun.

I agree to an extent (and of course there are exceptions) but they have parents for this reason. They don't need fans to tell them what they can and cannot do. If their parents support their dreams and encourage them to be an idol, despite being underage, then who are we to be against it? We aren't here to protect idols. That's the responsibility of the adults in their lives.

EDIT: I want to add that I definitely don't support sexualizing underage idols, rather I'm saying it's not up to us to dictate when they can or should debut.

I don't know if you're interested in non-idol music but I listen to a lot of Korean non-idol songs that are really good (at least I think so) and I'll share some that I'm playing often lately! I'll also share cignature's new song because it's so good and deserves more love.

It's interesting to see that so many people have older songs on their list. There isn't a single song on my replay list from a year other than 2021 there were so many bops this year.
