Its Korea not America it is true and we have this exact same argument every single time something happens. https://www.article19.org/reso…en-freedom-of-expression/
-
But if they come out and reveal themselves, even if its true, they can get sued for defamation since its still criminalised in Korea.
Its why even when that stylist revealed stuff about Irene she never fully said it, just left loads of clues to let people realise who it was just in case SM decided to sue her.

I get what your saying but even if the bully regrets it, the victim is the one who suffered through it and who knows how it effected their life later on. Even if the behaviour has changed does that change the effect it had on that person? no. And I do think they have the right to do what they feel needs to be done to heal themselves from the pain caused by the bully.
Bit of a bad example (and some still don't believe her) but remember AOA's Mina? she was going through all sorts behind the scenes watching the person who made her life hell go on happily whilst she was left dealing with the emotional damage she caused. Yes her posts may not have been the best way to go about it, but she was clearly crying out for help and had been for a long time. She seems to be in a better place now at least.

a korean posted this in reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/…ng_accusations_have_been/
basically saying navers getting rid of the most searched tab on the 25th, which is mega powerful since as soon as you go on naver it pops up and helps people keep up with the biggest news. With it gone problematic idols can hide scandals easier so lots of people panicked.
Since defamation (even if its true) is criminalised it makes it hard for people to come forward even if its true. Recently with the volleyball twins facing major consequences for bullying. They got kicked off the Olympic team (despite being a key reason the team got in) and suspended from thier team. Seeing real consequences gave people the courage to do something despite the fear of getting sued.
OP also mentioned that since they removed corporal punishments the teachers had no means to punish the kids so they would often ignore bullying leaving the kids powerless. In the comments you can read stories of people going to school in Asia and being bullied and what teachers would do. Someone mentioned that the only time something gets done about it is when a parent of a bullied child comes into school and they hold a bullying council. After that they force the bully to move school but thats very rare.
Some of the stories were crazy. One mentioned going to school in Japan and having their classmates act like they were dead. As in leaving flowers on the desk for deceased, write notes and goodbye cards. Even mentioning that physical bullying (as in beating up) was very common.

The only ppl that said she shout are anti . She Literally only shout when she hyping up a crowd which alot of ppl do.... and most non kpop fan doesnt even know she rap because she barely raps. And she had shown she capable of writing with solo new rap lyrics during the online concert
Thats a sweeping statement if I've ever heard one. People can think she can be shouty without being an anti. Criticism and opinion, even negative doesn't automatically make someone a 'hater or an anti'.
Maybe I should have clarified what I meant by non - kpop fans and I do think I used the wrong word there so apologies for that but I didn't know how to phrase it better. What I meant is fans who don't like or listen to kpop music in general and ONLY listen to blackpink (and mostly ONLY their English songs at that). So some of the western fans they picked up after coachella or the US promos who only have the blackpink discography as reference for the entirety of kpop and based on that infer that they are the best at everything (and I don't mean when people hype thier favs this is kinda beyond that).
And not to be rude or anything but her writing 1 rap isn't really comparable to the others I mentioned who are some of the most credited female idols in kpop (and are all very accomplished rappers), Miryo being the most with 97 credits to her name and like you said, she barely raps in their songs anyways. Which is why I said we don't really know enough yet to judge her as good or bad or as some have done above say shes the best.
-
Do non-blackpink fans actually consider her a good rapper?
not really. A lot of times when she gets hyped she just goes straight into shouting territory.
If your not a BP fan in kpop, you most likely don't really think BP is that talented at rapping but they mostly get a by because they are from YG which is know for its rappers. Not really seen many lives of her (since YG mostly doesn't let them) but of the 21? (all I remember is they have less songs than NCT has members) songs they have, which few I have seen them do live I can't recall seeing her or Lisa breathing hard or struggling to get through the lines which most see as a sign of a good rapper, but that's kinda a low bar.
Is she on the level of the other rappers mentioned (or known ones)who are also known for writing their own stuff and well recognised for their talent like Soyeon, CL, Miryo, LE or Moonbyul.....weirdly for a 5 year old group, we haven't seen enough to know which is why there is still debate.

kpop choreographers giving these girls cookie cutter routines below their level...
The way BG vs GG choreo is made is different and low key sexist. GG choreo is designed to place emphasis on grace, femininity and moves fans can easily replicate. Its designed to look easy. Small movements that need lots of muscular control to perfectly execute on time and in synch.
Meanwhile BG choreos are designed with big movements, designed to look impressive. Lots of sharp fast movements done in quick succession.
PD breaks it down when he talks about KARD here, each gender has a specific dance style that is inherently locked to their gender. Nothing to do with dance ability. Gender is the only reason.

We have provided more information on this in our privacy policy. They know girl groups can do more but its a risk that has never been tried and made successful. When they tried with the Ark, they ended up disbanding before they managed to debut. Its why kpop companies will train female idols separate from male ones. And even when an extremely talented idol comes along in dance for example not a sone so correct me if I remember this wrong but wasnt girls generations Hyoyeon so amazing at dancing that they put her in the male group since she already mastered what they taught in the female ones, yet post debut you rarely see her getting the chance to show off just how amazing she is as she is restricted by gender blocks. You can likely say the same thing about the top female dancers in kpop, when you see covers its normally quite feminine moves because thats all they are allowed to do.
But when they get the chance they go for it make no mistake, but its nromally in covers or pre-debut videos. After that the companies want them to stick to a feminine image

We have provided more information on this in our privacy policy.Even Gfriend, the group that is best known for thier complex choreo (2 members once trained under big hit for goodness sake), I recall they mentioned once they couldn't do the kind of choreo the company wanted and accidentally made the moves more powerful, so ended up debuting with a cute powerful concept and constant matching outfits.
And now that they changed concepts whats happened to the choreo? Its drifted into more generic female choreo, lots of emphasis on the smaller more graceful movements. Nothing wrong with that they execute it well but I just feel like they are not at all taking advantage of what amazing dancers the girls are.
Its why it was so amazing that Moonbyul on her solo debut did eclipse, not only was the video, sound, camera work reminiscent of boy groups, even the choreo was made by a famous choreographer for male groups like EXO. That entire debut was showing that we could challenge these gender norms and expanded what we think girl groups can do. The pure amount of articles people have written about it shows this is a genuine split in the industry.
Check out her dance practice for the song and you'll notice lots of the moves you'd typically see in only BG dances.

That's quite surprising. Seems like Hwasa has more public support but her hardcore fanbase isnt that strong as compared to her other members
In general that maybe so, but thats always the way in fandoms are, but fans try to support all the members equally as much as we can but I think its important to point out that we had alot of things to buy last year. Moonbyul's solo (Feb), Moonbyul's solo concert and repackage (May), Solar's solo (April) and loads of paid shows they were appearing in like kcon etc.
By the time Hwasa's solo came about in June a lot were broke (seriously though, albums to buy in April, may AND June???)
We knew we would have albums from Moonbyul, then Solar, then Hwasa, then the group, then Wheein's solo but with no timeline we were left to guess and try and budget so we could support all of them (but everyone agreed the group album was top priority which is kinda why Hwasa's was a little neglected). We had enough teasers from the members to know the group cb was meant to be in the summer (so July or August) so we planned and budgeted for that but it got delayed due to Hwasa's injury then refund sisters.

I'm agree with your post, except the last part. RV album are very good.
again, I wasn't talking about the actual songs on the albums, but the quality of the physical product. As in with the photo cards and CD, compared to the rest of SM idols RV always get the cheap stuff and there is always a clear lack of attention put into designing and producing them, even down to the amount of content they have on thier channel SM clearly ignores them. Wasn't this sub-unit the first time they had multiple versions of an album too? Its just sad how ignored they are by the company so I saw the topnote and middle note versions as a step in the right direction.
-
Hwasa did, she almost got 70k I believe. She ended the year as the third best selling female soloist of the year, behind her other members.
Its like a split in mamamoo, whilst Hwasa and wheein's solos chart better, moonbyul and solar get better sales (that is if the company don't run out of albums like they did with wheein in 2019).
-
honestly I don't get why people use it as an insult. Didn't wendy beat odds of something like 5000 to 1 to get into SM? Thats awesome. Not getting into big 3 doesn't mean your not talented, it just means that during that audition there was simply someone better than you. But even getting in still doesn't mean you get to debut. After that its a warzone within these companies to even get to be considered for debut. And even then it will depend on the concept they want to do if you get the chance.
Being big 3 is like getting into a Oxford vs someone going to a redbrick or normal university. It doesn't mean you'll get every job you apply to, it just means that from the get go you get attention and will at least get an interview, for better or worse (and for SM groups right after debut its normally for worse).
But that doesn't mean they didn't work their butt off to be able to get that chance and saying they don't have that privilege is dismissing the hard work they went through to be able to get that chance. If you don't think there's big 3 privilege then why is it still such a big thing that people even know trainees from big 3 and when one leaves people write articles about it? Why is it still such a big thing that even after debut people will make sure to mention they used to train in a big 3 company?
-
wow very proud of mamamoo, did not realise they were that high up on the views so congrats to them. Most interesting thing as well, for all thier MV's, bar HIP, the biggest views by far are on 1thek. Egotistic only has 26m on the official channel whilst it has 100m on 1thek. Same with Maria, it has 25m on the official but 140m+ on 1theK.
Also Itzy literally has 4 comebacks and already so high on the list thats amazing!
Also mega shocked at IU and Loona, would have thought IU would have had more but then again, Korea doesn't really use YT for viewing MV's thats what they have melon for. And Loona's coming out of nowhere to climb up the rankings.

What are you even blabbering when Red Velvet has arguably the best SM discography and miles ahead of other girl groups, Mamamoo especially. I&S mini was more than good but nowhere near RV's best EP/Albums
Not discography, the ACTUAL album. As in the physical package they are selling. Just compare the physical album, the amount of content they give out for RV (in general) to any other SM group and you'll see what I mean. The quality is not the same.
No need to get all offensive and rude.

Honestly depends on why they did it.
Considering they are one of the top groups in Korea, plus Hwasa's fame, plus the garbage fire that became the ending situ with Got7 its not surprising they had to say something. They were the next major group to be due a re-sign so lots of people used them as a contrast to Got7, writing up stories about them re-signing and everyone was likely scrambling trying to sign them I can imagine how annoying that must have been for the girls and how much it must have panicked Korean fans.
By putting out that statement they, at the very least gave the girls some peace or motivated some companies to give out better deals. I bet you some companies were trying to sign the entire group. Honestly, I don't think they would have done it without consent, considering how much the fans hate RBW and how fans in general will believe the idol more than the company, doing so would be shooting themselves in the foot, especially since everyone knows mamamoo made them. They may be dumb, but not that dumb....I dont think...

I don't know why people are panicking. Didn't the members themselves mention that they knew Aya wasn't the kind of song the GP would like but they wanted to take a chance and try something new?
MMM is always experimenting, sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. Their entire career has been like that which is why their sound changes so much from album to album.
But realistically this last album was hugely successful for them in other way other ways. They managed to sell over 100k first day becoming the 4th ever to do so, the only other groups to do that being Twice, Black Pink and Iz*one. Thats a massive jump from RIB which was their last most successful album giving them tier first 100k sales in general and doing it within a week which is another record.
They still are on an upward spiral DW.
Lets not forget what else they did in 2020, 3 of the 4 members released albums (Moonbyul even had a repackage) and all 3 became the top selling female soloists of the year. Throughout the year they were releasing more music for fans to buy, so by the time the group album came around there were people who couldn't afford it (and note that many wait till they have enough albums they want to buy to then bulk buy on the release of thier fav to make the shipping worth it) yet this still became thier best selling album to date with something like 164k.
Thats 84.6k from Solar, 68.8k from Hwasa and 116.2k from Moonbyul. Plus the 164k from travel (by the end of the year) so they sold around 433k in 2020.
We had Moonbyuls mini in Feb, her solo concert and reissue in May, Solar's mini in April, Hwasa's in June, Wanna be myself in September ( I swear they released some kind of physical thing with it too), not to mention loads of video concerts throughout the year. And thats not counting all the TV shows they went on this year. I swear at one point moo's had a show for every day of the week.
Also how are you comparing them with I&S when travel dropped in November whilst Monster dropped in July after hearing nothing from RV since Wendy's accident? (obligatory side eye to SBS). All thats happening is SM finally putting enough effort into RV. The obvious quality difference in RV albums and the rest of SM was always so insulting.

Just check out this twitter thread it gives a timeline for everything and clears up the misinformation out there. Its shockingly long as you'd imagine tho.
Nothing new has happened its just the normal hate trending again. It happens pretty much hourly, especially for Hwasa which is why the fans have fan accounts dedicated to clearing searches that checks throughout the day.
Like I said, someone likely got bored or someones fave got involved in a scandal and they are trying to divert.

I feel like at the start there were some highly valid issues, (n-word and blackface) and after a while it just seemed like anything they did they got called out for CA or people would create a rumour or fake subs or even just out and out lie and its just mighty exhausting to watch.
I'm mad that people, and this is not even restricted to mamamoo (esp twitter in general) use issues like CA, racism and misusing religion as a drag to validate and cover up their dislike of people. They make so many fake stories or invent anger from a community that has no problem with something that ACTUAL issues for CA, racism and misuse or religion go ignored because people think its another fake story.
Calling out a company is no longer about education or to stop further incidents, its drag against a group you hate or feel is taking something you think your own idols deserve. Fans have turned it into a weapon and its so sickening to me.
Now its all about cancelling people but what does that actually do? Nothing. They still release music. They still go on shows. They still sell out tours. Its done nothing bar marginalise offended people into cancel robots till the next issue comes around then people go wild and then forget again. Meanwhile the upset people are pushed off into a corner by their own fandoms who say 'they would never mean to do that' or 'they are so nice I'm sure they don't know blame the company' or just attack them for VALIDLY wanting an explanation. But what do those excuses do? Let the company, and every other kpop company that its fine fans will forgive and forget because 'that was 2 yrs ago they have changed so much by now, I KNOW MY IDOL CAN'T BE RACIST OR SEXIST OR IGNORANT'. Yes because you know this person who was trained for years on how to act in front of a camera to get fans, and given personalities by their company to match the vibe the company wants and its not like you know, they actual may be different from what they show the public.
But yeah, aside from my anger at the whole situ, at this point I never believe anything people say about MMM till I see it for myself. When I see something trending I just think someone must have gotten into a scandal or someone got bored and decided to create some new stuff to drag.
