Another generalisation that SEA countries dont attend concerts / dont spend on kpop. 🙄
Usually when big names come, tours in SEA are easily sold out. Problem is companies dont hold much dates in SEA, otherwise it is another profitable marmet.

There were instances where a single member charted better than whole group... let's not forget that
Exactly, I just search about it on twitter and there are even fans from my country (peru) doing that, fansites from north america too but ofc they are 100% legit and the best ever they would never cheat like these c fans...
Many foreign fansites also buy albums and opt for non-ship back for album but only ship the inclusions (photocards, stickers, bookmarks etc). Because EMS would be so expensive to ship all the albums. Sometimes when i join Group Order, they do this
You mentioned Twice fans specifically. Do you know the reason why Twice don't have many Chinese fans to begin with? That's because of Tzuyu. So you really are ok with Chinese racism against Taiwanese while calling everyone racist?
I believe Tzuyu is inherently Chinese (Taiwanese Chinese) which is technically same race with China Chinese. It is not racism by any mean, it is about country/location.
I’m excited to see how they do on the charts, what if they bag another hit like next level is
Aespa definitely will chart well.
Savage charted decently and DCT too despite not promoted. They will do well. Might not be NL kind but just their name will sell
You could argue that BP is more consistent, but they literally comeback once every two years. And they do have Boombayah and KTL in their pocket.
KTL is an extremely bad example. CMIIW, It was the best performing GG song the year it released. It also outdid most of Twice's title tracks bar a few. STAY would be a more appropriate example.
Boombayah was released alongside Whistle on debut. I dont think any new group on debut can slay double title as much Blackpink did - i believe Winner kinda too.
If anything, announcing that you have 3 photocards instead of 2 photocards would probably increase the sales more than having more songs
Assuming total photocards are same, having 3 photocards per album make u sell less album instead. Unless u make 3 photocards per album and increase the total number of unique photocards (recent example - seventeen with over 200 types)
the only part i hated is the center thing.
Before Produce, of course there are groups with center but they often rotate it. Nowadays once a popular member is designared as "center", if he/she somehow didnt end up having most center parts / start or end with center, their stans will throw tantrum
anyone with sane mind would be at rage on this issue. Kudos to Shuhua for voicing it out boldly as an idol. She is really brave but she really has nothing to lose since she is Taiwanese and china chinese dont like her in first place
Display MoreBoygroups title tracks are underwhelming
Girlgroups side tracks are rarely worth listening
Overall I think this holds true. We can see how Boygroups side tracks have an overall much better performance on streaming services. I'm excluding Blackpink and BTS from my analysis because they are clear outliers:
Darari, Polaroid Love, Anti Romantic, The eve, Highway to Heaven... all seems to have better streams than any Girlgroup b-side
When kpop was popular in Korea it was true that even Boygroups with small fandoms (BtoB, iKon, Winner, Block B) had much better chart performance with side tracks than Girlgroups with bigger fandoms like Twice
My Bag? Dolphin? Pretty Savage? Forever young?
Such generalisation. I could name at least 10 GGs with good bsides
- 2ne1
- gidle
- ITZY
- AOA
- SNSD
- Fx
- aespa
The generalisation comes from the fact GPs only pay attention to GG title track (actually they would, cause they're Gp not fans/stans). While for BGs, their main streamers are fans/stans that listen to most of their discography. There are exceptions to certain GGs though like blackpink, 2ne1
They drag china sales because their faves dont have much. Non-ship back album purchases happen in all countries including korea (where they dump the albums and took out inclusions only). Not sure why China is always singled out
No, The Feel should have been title track of FOL instead
- 2 ex-iz*one members
- Catchy songs
- Attractive members
- Marketing + timing
Starship has always been giving good songs to their groups (at least GG) - Sistar, WJSN, IVE. Their songs are not overly girl crush and not candy pop too. It just hit that niche market GPs are looking for.
And Starship was the company that ditched the idea to extend iz*one and want to debut their group asap. This makes people curious about what they can bring to table. They're also first post iz*one group so they got all the attention.
No to mention the 4 other members are attractive in their own way. In fact, some of them are more popular than Yujin in some countries (e.g. Liz in SEA, Rei in Japan etc)
the only factor that Gugudan and Weki Meki flopped was because those groups focused too much on the two ex-IOI members. Pristin was msimanaged, else they could have been bigger. WJSN was already going on for a while before yeonjung addition, so it is not comparable.
Learning from experience, IVE and Le sserafim are much better as the other members equally attracted attention (e.g. Leeseo had hype for debuting young, Kazuha going viral, Garam for the bad reason). So yeah, the post IZ*ONE groups definitely did better.
