'Red Velvet - Red Flavour' is the first SM's song to get a PAK iirc.
Their popularity was on the same level but BAP’s was growing globally compared to EXO who focused their energies domestically and in China.
The statement I'm talking abt.
Edit- Also, I'm not saying that BAP isn't popular internationally. It's just to say that they're MORE GLOBAL THAN EXO at any point in their career sounds absurd to me.

'On March 9, B.A.P’s Seoul concert was broadcast in movie theaters in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan.[2] It is estimated that 20,000 global fans were able to view the concert in real-time with B.A.P. After 11 months, BAP returned to America with their first stop in New York city selling out.[3] The European leg of the tour was the largest concert tour by a Korean artist in Europe at the time, with 20,000 fans expected to attend.'
You said "More Globally THAN EXO", Lets compare that number with EXO's number now. Actually you can compare EXO vs B.A.P number before 'Growl' happened and EXO is still far ahead.
No, EXO still has China anyway, and before BTS blow up, Big3 group is just way more dominant in international market compare to group from non-Big3 (with the exception of Kara in Japan). So B.A.P might challenge EXO in domestic market only but internationally/worldwide they'll fall way behind EXO. Maybe B.A.P can be the next Infinite or Beast/Highlight if their company manage them right imo.
Edit- Also I don't know where you got the impression that B.A.P was growing globally compared to EXO, cause when you look at their Google Trends, Album sales, youtube view etc, EXO was always above B.A.P
Here's a video abt Kpop boygroup Google Trends throughout time, for example

Some people might be pressed by the overall ranking, but Twice is indeed ahead than TVXQ and BIGBANG. Both groups have big fandoms and they tour a lot in Japan, so their popularity there made it look 'inflated'. But digitals, relevancy and popularity this is the correct ranking.
Where will you put BoA, KARA, SNSD for the overall ranking then?
2nd gen 2009 = 2016 for 3rd gen
2nd gen 2011 = 2018 for 3rd gen
29th Seoul Music Awards exist
We don’t really need a clash though to compare who made more impact.
There are records and sales available for us to gauge who owned 1st Gen. I mean STB held the best selling album in Korea until BTS happened so there’s that. They were historic for a group that was active for only 4 years
I still find it fascinating how BTS is still breaking records set by STB. Especially when dynamite happened. That just shows that it took a group like BTS to break these records STB are legendary in all ways
Yeah, I already mention abt STB's album sales. But there's much more than just album sales to measure someone's success. Also 1st gen group generaly disbanded after 4-5 years (H.O.T were active for 5 years), so thats nothing out of ordinary for STB actually. And am personally not really a fan of comparing album sales (or any other metrics of success really) from two completely different generation, the market and customer's behaviour have changed so much.
Hot didn’t touch STB success???
Like others have said, they never actually clash with each other (when H.O.T debuted, STB already disbanded), so their popularity might be hard to compare. Personally I always think they were on the same level, kinda. STB sold more albums, H.O.T had bigger concert and more popularity outside Korea. Also while STB laid the foundation for Kpop, the systematic Idol training system that everyone and their mother use till these days were first introduced by H.O.T, so almost every Kpop group till today were following H.O.T's formula.
-Taehyung & Yoongi would be interesting Ig, a very rare pair
-Jimin & Jungkook, have the most potential out of all other BTS's possible sub-unit imo. With what they showed us at Black Swan MMA2020 performance, there's a potential for a dance-pair focused sub-unit we've never seen before in Kpop
Yes, they've already been popular pre-dynamite, but dynamite take them to another whole new level, esp in Japan and USA (charting-wise). Which is crazy.
