and the gap is continuously increasing. It is definitely the 2nd biggest source of income after concerts, which aren't available in 2020.

Twice is still doing very well yes, but they arent at the top anymore. Altho I wouldnt say they necessarily are on the decline, they grew in many areas internationally, but nt doing as well as they used to digitally in korea.
They prob would still be at the top if not for Blackpink tho, so I guess it depends on competition in the era?
-
That depends on how strong 4th gen grps from the big3 are in the future. Aespa and ITZY has been decent but they're rookie years are not comparable to leaders in the previous gen like Bp and Twice in their rookie years/debut esp in korea.
Also ITZY is 2 years old and should not even be called rookies. But i guess since idol culture is dying in korea 4th gen ggs will most likely be battling out on international achievements.

tq
also imagine asking for noise in the middle of a pandemic and its making plenty of noise in the charts. plus gallup is a chart where a song's impact is measured right?a 2 month old song did that
https://twitter.com/kchartsmas…/1340887981012504576?s=19
i wouldnt say how long it is released has an impact on its position, its not like normal charts where the longer u are on the chart, the better ur overall stats is. Its just a poll conducted on the public to ask them abt the biggest songs of the year.

Yea #5, if anyone wants to doubt it they can just go and google it, internet is free

black swan instead of dynamite is funny tbh, and probably the reason why ppl dont take this list srsly. But there are some real weird things in the list, unless international and kr stats are 50/50 in terms of importance, Likey cant be bigger than Red Flavour in 2017 and KTL cant be bigger than Dalla Dalla in 2019
-
Actually, Psycho had better first month/first 8 weeks scores than HYLT, Nonstop and other 2020 hit songs except for BTS' Dynamite.
My guess is that it got snowed under due to no promotion (bc of SBS induced injury of Wendy) and that it got snowed under by Changmo's Meteor and Zico's Any Song that dominated in the same time period, which is why people tend to forget or underestimate how extremely well Psycho did despite all the setbacks.
But it did really, extremely well on a wide range of digital scores on Melon and other digital media.
Check again. It most definitely did not outperform HYLT and I tot this was common knowledge as for girlgroups, HYLT had one of the biggest starts to a song in years.
Gaon takes first 30 days data from all songs and compare them, and during the gaon year end awards HYLT had better stats for its first 30 days than Psycho by a slight margin, which is widened even more after the month.
Not only did HYLT had more unique listeners, it topped melon for 21 days, had PAKs, had the most gaon points in a week for any idol group song last year as well. I don't understand where Psycho beat HYLT at all
I think your misunderstanding is HYLT's first week of tracking on gaon. HYLT was released on a friday, Psycho on a monday.
So Psycho had 4 more days of tracking in its first week compared to HYLT. Which is why gaon took only Psycho's first 4 weeks + 2 days from the 5th week of gaon stats to calculate its first 30 days. 7(First Week)+7+7+7+2 =30days
HYLT on the other hand took full 5 weeks because it only had 2 days of tracking in its first week, hence such a low gaon digitals in its first week skyrocketed in the second week.
2(First week)+7+7+7+7 =30 days. Gaon is fair in calculating scores for all song and takes first 30 days data of the songs no matter when it is released.
Go look at BTS songs which are also released on a friday and u will see the same lower first week gaon digitals but its is not that they performed worst in the first week, they just had lesser tracking time.
Which is why for Psycho and HYLT, if u are just looking at the total numbers for the first 4weeks/8weeks, u are just looking at a scenario where HYLT always had 4 less days of tracking data than Psycho, hence the slightly lower points. In reality, HYLT was outperforming Psycho already from the start.
That, however, does not take away how big of a song Psycho is tho, I would say its even bigger than Dalla Dalla due to its longetivity for the biggest gg song released in 2019. But it is not bigger than HYLT.

It came out in 2019, but since it was a late december release it was almost considered for all the award shows for 2020 and the award shows took its 2020 stats. In general it had overall better stats than the other 2020 SOTY contenders due to having longer tracking time(the whole year), but in terms of hit size in general it isn't higher than a few idol grp songs last year which came out late in the year like HYLT, Dynamite so it didn't win anything
-
peak has always been more important than longevity wdym ?
For example
People would usually be more amazed
At a song
Hitting #1 on the hot 100 and than dropping out,
Than a song that stays at #12 for 5 months.
With that said
Dddd had both peak and longevity so I don't know what point you're trying to make about it
Actually for kcharts I've always thought they were equal. Many ppl in the old forum used to treasure longetivity more.
Think abt it, there are songs who get PAKs, #1s just based on hype alone then tank afterwards easily in kcharts. Eg songs like M&M, Power Up. Which is why peak was never the biggest thing
And for korea CU was usually viewed as the biggest song, d4 was always not seen as a competitor for one due to its longetivity
-
Compared to the biggest gg hits of this generation in korea, d4's longetivity is impressive but not amongst the best. It, however, had the biggest peak for any gg song probably ever topping melon for 30 days and maintaining over 800k ULs during the whole of first month.
And despite losing out to the other songs in terms of longetivity, it has the most ULs of any gg song of all time in korea(melon + genie) at 8.1M. Does this prove peak > longetivity?

dont take my list seriously lmao
i made it in 30 secs and probably missed some smh
Well some ppl got angry over it so I guess its too late. Im not that concerned abt the list tho, but to say feel special's Japan stats is everything is a stretch. In the grand scheme of things when compared to total international figures then we can see the difference. Japan is a big market no doubt, but they cant fight the world
-
International includes Japan, thats fair, but u cant say its bigger than ice cream. It had 100M cert for streams in Japan, if u add it into its total streams on yt+ spotify, it will still be lower than Ice Cream. And Ice Cream had over 1.3M downloads and multiple certs in China as well being of the biggest kpop songs there in 3rd gen, and even then Chinese streams aren't even included in YT or Spotify. I think both are similar level of hits at the very least tho and if one is included, its fair to say that the other shld be included as well bc of how poor they were in Korea

Wasn't TVXQ more physical era than download?
I thought its Physical + Downloads era but since Physicals arent applied here so i just said downloads but maybe they're even in an era where even downloads arent that prevalent

What stats? Ma’am charting was a thing after 2010. These are primarily older songs. How do I prove to you that I, like nearly all genz koreans, grew up listening to this and my parents listened to it because they were hits during their prime? Wtf you moron would you like a testimonial from koreans? Or would you like Panns angry reaction to telling them that we need “proof” to prove songs we all know? What do you need? A mf street interview?
Dude, if we go buy ur logic, we can just say that every song is a big hit because I feel like it is and because it is popular amongst my friends. Then I can just call any songs big hits because i feel like it is. There's a reason why charts and stats are there, they gather information abt a song from the whole country and they are for sure more accurate than some guy on a random website and his opinion on what are the most popular
