It's taken off in SK because of her. She is the most followed Kpop act on TikTok, it's not a stretch to say she could have released the same song with any other popular male artist and it would have been just as viral.
Japan is the only country where collaborating with Bruno actually helped, imo.
They just have that star power that many groups these days especially Big 4's lack. They just need to convert those casual listeners into a dedicated fanbase and they are gonna be unstoppable.

Read the entire thread. All songs from their debut mini were promoted on music shows and had their own MVs. Nobody Knows was a title track and had its own MV and music shows promo. They also did a few stages for Nothing and Te Quiero. This time, they promoted 3 songs and the one that is going viral is going to have an MV so I need y'all to STOP doubting them. They are a motivated group who know what they are doing.
MVs aren't shot overnight. They knew Igloo had potential to go viral and that's why they had already planned to film an MV for it and even promoted it on music shows.

Jisoo at SME would eat all the other members alive! I agree, at YG and in BP she offers nothing, except her pretty face, BUT, I always said, she had the biggest potential. A unique voice! Rose is a pretty good singer, but she's like Taylor Swift. I love her, but she's not unique. I mean, when you hear her voice, you can't recognize it and say: "Oh, it's Rose!"
If Jisoo debut at SME, they would've given her a proper vocal training, and with a vocal tone like she has, she would be outstanding.

PS: Jisoo always did something to BP. In their debut she captivated SK and a looot turned into fans bc of her, the same can be said about Asia. Her "vocal" isn't for everyone's taste, but she can sing and she improved the most imo. She is wonderful and her personality is top tier!

You can put the other 3 in any other big agency and they were going to hit it bigger than any other female idols just like now, maybe they wouldn't have reached the same peaks but they would still be super popular.
Jisoo is the only member that has nothing special about her unlike Jennie's star power or Rosé's voice. Jisoo would've been at best Irene level popular if she were to debut in SM. And that is why I believe she contributed nothing to BP's success as a group.
BLACKPINK's success as a whole is another story. It had a lot to do with timing and their concept that wasn't overdone at the time of their debut and had little to do with luck. They were present at the right place at the right time. Being a YG group it was a given they were going to be successful but other factors like the combination of members, songs, and their promotional tactics made them reach the peaks that are still unheard of for Kpop GGs.

The post asked who was the most popular overall and the answer is BABYMONSTER looking at raw numbers across streaming platforms. And unless you can somehow manage to meaningfully quantify success from a small agency vs success from a big agency, then I don't care if they are big4 or not.

Kpop stans have decided their own arbitrary metrics for what makes a group popular and I'll use my own. Babymonster has 2x the cumulative streams this year than KIOF on spotify, ill call that crushing. Illit not so much, but again I don't think they will maintain it. YT? it's really not even a competition.
There is a competition and BM is currently not leading, let alone crushing. They are popular internationally and pull good streams but that's it. Their numbers are nothing special when you consider the fact they have 2 Japanese and 2 Thai in the group and come from YG.
It doesn't matter to me because they are so dominant on the 2 biggest streaming platforms that it cancels out their poor performance on melon charts. You can call that cope but at the end of the day BM has FAR more album sales than KIOF (maybe more than illit?), crushes KIOF on YT/spotify, and crushes Illit on YT and competitive on spotify (with far less playlisting).
Then considering the obvious fact that Illit is mostly just coasting off Magnetic and seems unlikely to maintain the big spotify numbers, the clear answer in BABYMONSTER. QED.
You're reaching. BM isn't crushing anyone on Spotify. They are a YG group who can't even chart on Melon, if it were the same for Spotify that would have been very embarrassing for them. They are more consistent than KIOF/ILLIT on Spotify but I wouldn't call it crushing.
