IU singer definitely, her voice never fail to make me emotional, she's an amazing singer and songwriter, no one's at her level. I dont really like kdramas but i still tried to watch hers, couldnt even finish hdl (ig is not for me), my mister was better but it was just okay, not as good as people make it to be

This is the worst exemple ever because :
1st) Kpop is way different to the west artists don’t rely on fanservice, they aren’t forced to release music every damn year there is a limit between the fans and the artist
2nd) Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are probably the most active artists, they constantly release contents and music plus Gaga and grande especially Ariana are always interactive with their fans Ariana in 2018-19 was always on Twitter and used talk to us
3) and If bp are that concerned by blinks behavior they can tell us to shut up it’s better than nothing lol I’m sure the fandom itself agree that we are annoying
i wasnt specifically talking about blackpink on my post and about your first point, there are western artists that also have to release albums because of their contracts even if they dont feel like to. and what i meant by fanservice is just interacting a lot with your fanbase (something the artists i mentioned above are known for) it surely does not operate in the same way as in kpop but it does exist

Gaon needs to count YouTube on its chart
YTB is like the 2nd biggest platform
I did my research and apparently in Korea cost per mile (com) on youtube is 3,29$ I don’t know If the numbers are right but I took nl for example :
It has over 80M views on YouTube Korea if you divide per mile it over 8000 then you multiply per 3,29 the result is over 200.000 which means on YouTube alone nl pulled over 200,000 dollars in revenue
if im not mistaken youtube music had the biggest growth last year among all the music platforms. i wouldnt be surprised if it surprass melon in a few years

reading this post, i've noticed that some of u guys really talk about idols the same way racists do: "they don't care about fans, they are super fake, they only care about money, they're forced to do almost anything, they're basically robots!!" would people say the same thing about ariana grande, lady gaga or another pop star and their fanservice? i mean, yes, of course they don't love us as individuals because they dont know each one of us but im pretty sure that most of these idols care or at least are grateful to their fans for all their support and love throughout their career, that doesnt mean they cant dislike or get sick of (certain) fans (attitudes) and decide to stop interacting with them for a while, even i hate armies half (most) of the time lol

Why do some k-fans care so much about outfits? It's like having a slightly bad outfit is the greatest insult known to man.
cause visuals are important in kpop

Ozuna is a has been even in the Latin market
It's really Bad Bunny now
ozuna is still very well known in latin america lmao. something you should know about latino artists is that they release tons of singles every year and most of them flop, they just wait for at least one of them to become a hit, so ozuna latest releases not doing well is not a surprise. btw, bad bunny is an special case, you shouldnt compare him with anybody

Oh yea, it's kinda went down Hill when another person left right? Oh, just checked out her MV. I am kinda shocked that her Butterfly Effect haven't reach 100k stream on youtube yet. This is wow.
it's kinda interesting how they/she started flopping after the least popular member left, one would think that it wouldnt make a difference sinche she barely had screen time or lines

definitely no. if there's something i've learnt about american labels is to not expect something from them by looking at how they promote their other artists. let's better wait to their next comeback to see the actual results of that contract

Lmao, look at genie right now
i admire his fans, wish k armys were as dedicated as them

Anyway the point wasn’t to know exact numbers. It can indeed be lesser. But to say there are more Spotify listeners than melon indeed because Korea is small.
isn't that kinda obvious? ofc there is more spotify users hence more probabilities for a korean artists to have more monthly listeners than melon uls but that doesn't make korean acts bigger internationally
-
Japanese music charts are full with a lot of rock bands and different genres as well, why do people forget those?
i wonder the same. i've been following japanese charts more lately and the amount of boy/girl groups (with some exceptions) on spotify/apple music top 100 is really small. the charts are basically rock or pop bands, soloists, yoasobi and bts lmao

Korea is a tiny country. Life time Melon ULs for the biggest songs ever is 4-5mil when Spotify monthly listeners for EXO and RV are already higher than that. The statement EXO is successful in Korea is correct. The statement EXO is more successful in Korea than internationally is not. It’s just factually wrong. Any group that can get more than 4-5mil ULs on Spotify is already bigger internationally than in Korea because Korea is a tiny country.
If someone has more Melon ULs than Spotify for example maybe in the first month that would mean they’re bigger in Korea. This maybe true for aespa. Idk. But it’s certainly not true for EXO or RV for that matter.
that's a flawed argument cause melon is a korean music platforms whereas spotify is the most used music platform worldwide where we can't even know the uls for each song. success can't also be determined by monthly listeners because there's multiple factors that play into it such as playlisting or getting only one hit, there are artists that have like 20M ML, one song with over 500M and the rest can't even reach 5M and others with 10M but with many songs over 200M so it would just not be fair to make such comparisons.

people only say that because she's darker than the other korean members

not a group but bolbbalgan4 in 2019 got three hits, a song that pulled +1M uls even after a week of being released (also blocked bp ktl), a bside with +900K uls and another single that got pak despite naver problem, then one member left the group and they started flopping

i think there's nothing wrong if they change some small things since they're used to dance songs differently from female idols (i've watched some gg covers of bg and the difference is quite noticeable even for a non dancer like me) but if they're changing it because they think is too feminine? then yes, that's a problem
