I think I'm kind of an outsider in K-pop because I am a conservative, not alt-right however. I'm also a Christian, though I don't support hatred, oppression, anything of the sort. I wouldn't stan an idol who openly does. In a way I appreciate that K-pop artists are obligated to keep their political beliefs to themselves, however this is also not a great thing because some of us are probably already stanning groups with questionable idols.

are you stanning the artist or the company?

If you are fans of western artists you will know that music are not fast food. It takes years to be released and I'm used to that. For example, Adele took years to release 25 after success of 21 and till now we havent get any new album. Gaga also took 4 years to release another pop record

It doesn’t work when you compare k-pop releases to western artists. They release albums with a ton of songs. Even up to five times the amount on one album that some groups release in a year or more, depending on how bad their management is. It’s completely different.

This is exactly why I quit stanning Blackpink. I had hopes at their debut that YG would manage them differently than their previous groups but those hopes quickly dwindled. I love the girls but I’m here for music and I’m not going to wait around for years with barely any music releases. I just couldn’t do it.

I love Red Velvet too but always felt I couldn’t really connect with the members due to lack of regular content. I still follow them though because the frequent music releases made up for that.

She did explain it tho? If you go on twitter (and some people on akp too actually), there is a huge discourse about the 3 songs in English. NOT because of how it sounds but solely because of English. And people are saying exactly what she said, they are singing in English and losing their Korean identity blah blah.

If the problem was with bts singing in a different language, the same energy would be seen for film out but it was not. People were literally praising it left and right. So the problem is clearly them singing in English. And it points to the deeper problem of Asian fetisization. But you can only see the problem if you want to so🤷‍♀️

Or English is their first language and they got into K-pop because it was different than their native language and they enjoyed that? Like to say that because people don't want to hear K-pop groups sing in English is because of Asian fetishization is a BOLD and very, very general claim. Many people have concerns about groups trying to appeal to the West. It's not even just about BTS either. I don't mind English songs but to generalize everyone in that way isn't right.

Flower Power? Madonna? IGAB? I'll Be There? FIRST LOVE????? I love so many of the songs on this list, I can't trust anyone on this site :pepe-cross:

What, this song is so good. Same with SF9.

Magic is ironically my least favorite song on the album. Not because it's in English but because it's simply not as good as the other songs. Seriously, I don't stan TXT but they continue to impress me. Just when I think they can't possibly outdo themselves, they do.

I don't know whether he lied or not because it's not my place to judge the relationships between people I don't know, besides we don't even know which groups he was referring to.

And I am not upset at all lol, I am just sharing my opinion on a random topic in a kpop forum. Honest to god, aside from Jackson I can't associate Got7 members names with their faces, in fact I only know 3 of their names including Jackson. So rest assured I don't hold a grudge against them or anything. The title of the thread made me curious, that's all.

I wasn't necessarily referring to you as being upset, I just saw quite a few people in this thread upset as if he name dropped their favorite group lol.

It would have been perfectly lovely if he said just that but are you sure you read his entire statement? He proceeded to talk about how other well known groups were fake and weren't close at all and only pretended to be so. THAT'S the part I said was irrelevant, unnecessarily catty and made him sound bitter.

Can you tell me how other well known groups being fake has any bearing on Got7's success story? Or why Bambam felt the necessity to say this when he was never asked to?

I read his entire statement. Did he lie though? It was a comparison. Even if it's irrelevant, why does it make people so upset? It's not a mystery that most groups, even well known groups, have members that aren't close. Most groups have a business relationship but cosplay as besties. It's not new information - that's why, to me, it's a non issue.
