It's pretty much the usual path that viral hits from "2nd tier" ggs usual go. It happened with Gfriend, Brave Girls and now G-idle. Hopefully they do well in the future too.

bp ia barely a kpop group they are social media influencers
that's pretty much all idols nowadays

Yeah yeah... Blackpink has been smashing the world, making kpop a worldwide phenomenon, just like covid, etc etc
but they definitely changed the essence of kpop, that's for sure: no more ugly clothes, no more "ugly" people, no concepts.
anyway, here are the things i blame blackpink for, mostly ruining the things that made kpop so great and enjoyable in the past.
1. Make kpop a fashion contest.
Seriously. Nobody cares if you can sing or rap or perform. All that matters is what are you wearing. I see more threads related to chanel events than actually enjoying songs or music.
Yep. We barely have concepts anymore. Now you just need visuals, flashy lights, camera movements, nonsense lore theories and the
a e s t h e t i c s
Do you want a spy concept? maybe retro 60s? what about ugly 2010's fashion?
Ugh... no... that's stupid, let's just put sneakers on this girl... it's called f a s h i o n
3. You can sing like crap and still be an idol. Usually you had one or two tone deaf people in a group, but they really took it
to
the
4. Bring back beatdrop music from the grave where it should've been stayed. also bts is partially responsable for this.
5. Make youtube streams a thing for kpop fans. Probably one of the biggest cancers that's currently draining the internet.

so either op is a troll, or their definition of "non-flop" is ranking 1 in every music chartWe'll have to wait and see gaon numbers, although they definitely did better this time
As for my definition of "flop" I was expecting them to do waaay better digitally considering they WON the show, but it seems like nobody cared
-
They won only in minor music shows (The show and Show champion) and probably did it only thanks to youtube ad views
Bugs is a filler chart mass streamed by kpop fans and itunes is just... well... itunes
Unfortunately they flopped both digitally and physically even with that ridiculous amount of photocards and stuff.
kepler increased in album sales, but did bad with everything else basically
According to gaon numbers
Debut: 393k
Last comeback: 318kThat's definitely lower than before

Disclaimer: This thread is not targeted to aespa exclusively but to kpop in general
We've seen in the past how companies manipulate digital charts. Pretty much nothing happened after the sajaegi scandals of 2018. No big companies were involved either (as far as we know).
We've seen how big companies manipulate reality shows. Nothing happened. The machine of Produce groups is still working.
We've seen how they manipulate award ceremonies and music show wins.
We've seen how they manipulate YT views with a bunch of ads and bots.
It's hard for me to think that the album sales claimed by gaon are 100% legit nowadays.
I mean, of course, BTS and Blackpink and even Twice are huge, but to think that the "2nd tier" of 3,5-4th gen groups can easily sell 800k-1M seems a little bit unreal to me when their fandoms are so small in the west.
What do you think?
