Any Thai fans who share the ad publicly could get in trouble. A thoughtful company might have considered that aspect because of her huge fanbase there, but YG only sees fans as cash machines. Regardless Lisa won't get in trouble, unless she walks into Bangkok's airport carrying an advertisement for Chivas Regal.

Among international fans, self-producing is a very big bragworthy thing, so I can see why she gets hyped so hard. And she is a talented rapper, even if she's having her turn to get dragged for this comeback.
I'm pretty certain that Miyeon is more popular in Korea, she's got a pretty voice and she's got the visuals. With foreign members it's hard to quantify. Minnie seems well liked, Shuhua is considered very pretty, and Yuqi has a lot of charisma (maybe the strongest fanbase over all?)

Soyeon's rapping sounds much better when it's in Korean...
I don't know if I'll replay it much but I liked it. It reminds me of "Girlfriend" era Avril Lavigne. Yuqi and (surprisingly) Shuhua were the stand outs.

I find it kinda funny that you're convinced he wouldn't broadcast his alleged misogyny but at the same time you're also convinced he would openly mock Korean men in national tv. It's like you're conveniently choosing what cause to project on him lol.
How about neither of these two incidents being a political statement?
Where did I say I'm convinced he wouldn't? I said it wouldn't make sense. I don't know if he has sense or not.
I also am not "convinced" that he was making a political statement. I was just putting it forward as something carats have been talking about over the past year.
Do you want to make up some more of my opinions, or are you amused enough by the ones you already invented?

They had a female president before the last one…
Yes, but the political climate has clearly changed over the past 6-7 years, and not for the better where women are concerned.

Cry For Me is my ult, that's never changing. And I love Like A Fool. Current fave is Shotclock since I saw it performed in the tour clips.

If he was anti-feminist, why would he broadcast it to his overwhelmingly female fanbase? Makes no sense.
Also Mingyu seemed to make a point of mocking that hand gesture that had Korean incels in a lather last year. He did it a few different times

We'll never see an idol playing up to a sleazy image again. I never liked Seungri, and you could see his issues from a mile off - over-inflated ego, low self-esteem, struggling with being the least talented member, desperate to be the richest member - but I wonder how much this kind of thing set him up. He is arguably a victim of his fame. And before anyone jumps at me for saying that - can you name without looking them up the two idols who are finishing up their prison sentences for drugging and r-wording women on multiple occasions and then sharing the r clips online? They got crazy light sentences because hardly anyone knew them and no-one was baying for their blood because they were busy enjoying the downfall of Seungri/YG.
Once the hysteria died down all they got him for was booking sex workers. In Korea sex work is illegal the same way it's illegal most countries. Technically against the law, but also everywhere (a male idol got caught at a salon last year and the only reason it was even a thing was because of covid restrictions). My guess is that Seungri put a genuinely powerful nose out of joint, and that's what caused a lot of the YG mess that year. (It also makes me wonder if those gold phone victims would ever have seen any justice without it.)

I was about to take this seriously and pull up Lisa's US sales receipts...

This blew up on twitter in a whole other direction. She fell into the trap other people have, of thinking KPop stans are all on her side and hyping her so she decided to take credit for a Lovesick Girls mv corset... Bad mis-step. Blinks always have the details for every Blackpink outfit and they got the original designer to confirm they made the piece years before this designer even established her label.

Another late new year collection. What does YG have against January? And if I ordered, though I'm not gonna, I'd get it around April
An interesting point (for me anyway) is that Lisa seems to be wearing that brother-of-BTS-member-brand sweater in the calendar, the one in my pfp. So it was a deliberate stylist decision and not just a random "I must take a picture in this pretty flower sweater!" thing.

I think it's unfair to say they only had one hit. They had one monster hit with Love Scenario. Some groups/singers never get that and still have successful careers.

It all comes down to whether Chinese fans can find viable workarounds to enable them to keep buying. The K-Pop industry wants their buying power. If they can't get it, they'll lose interest.
Bigbang's next comeback will be of interest to the whole industry because they have a massive Chinese fanbase that will want to support them.
