  • the idols are literally the product

    gonna go and break out the hair-splitter and say:


    The viewing of the idol is the product, but not the idol itself. Though, qualities of the idol is *very* closely tied to the quality of the viewing in this case.


    Edit: the idols are the subject of MV's, audio, stages, merch, etc. Those are the products. The persona that the company and the idol creates by producing, editing, being the subject, that is the for sale bit.


    The idol doesn't have a price tag on his or her head specifically. if it were, ownership of the idol would be created and exchanged hands.

  • product in the figurative sense as oppose to the literal but I guess your point is valid that one is selling the image of the idol and thus one buys actual products like merch or CDs or whatever because of the idol and not necessarily the music or the product itself...


    its really no different from influencers or celebrities putting their name on products and selling that to the masses...
