I won't consider BTS the top group digitally in South Korea...

  • ... if they can't revive Melon like that group did. How are they the top when they are being surpassed? I'll wait for their comeback to see the uls and if it's like Tomboy, well, not the top group.

I don't care about digital points neither paks, if someone revived Melon why can't BTS?

    Approved the thread.
  • Bigbang didn't revive melon. Tomboy, fmr, iu collab were doing well anyways.

  • Sounds like a you problem if you have a fixation on “reviving Melon” as the number one factor of being top in digitals.

  • That group did well for a few days out of people's curiosity. They have lost a lot of uls and I won't be surprised if they are two close with Tomboy soon.

  • not even a fan but Koreans don't care about your opinion lol

  • y'all realize that they haven't had a comeback since permission to dance right? When y'alls faves break world records, yall can talk. Until then, shut your mouth.

    Oh yes, i forgot :ideac:

Will this comeback be a Korean one or English one?

  • at the day no one cares if you consider bts top group digitally or not

the fact remains that bts IS the top group digitally in sk

    Deal with it

  • Why not just wait two months until bts comeback and you have have your dick measuring contest in which group is the biggest in digitals in korea?

As for uls, Bigbang didnt do it alone even if they were the biggest increase, there was jay park with iu featuring and tomboy in the weeks before that raised the top uls by 200k, as well as coming out of the driest chart months of the year.

That group did well for a few days out of people's curiosity. They have lost a lot of uls and I won't be surprised if they are two close with Tomboy soon.

A few days? more like 20 days. And they are still getting uls that none else have managed to even reach in the last five months as well as spending more time above 600k ul than any other song released in the last 1.5 years. Ironically the last song before still life to spend more was Dynamite.

  • From 900kULs now drop to 500k ULS not even a month old.. Hm..

I am not a chart person, but I remember BTS Dynamite stable at 700k ULs after 2 month released. So...

  • Bigbang did set a new standard on reformed charts when it comes to ULs, for groups.

Or is it for all, did BB best IU?

So BTS indeed has that to match up to.

Still Melon ULs is one of the few criteria. It would be incorrect to judge based on only one criterion.

Otherwise BTS is one of the top group digitally in Korea is indisputable.

  • And? Do i care for others? I'm obviously talking about me so in the end of the day my opinion matters more to me. DeAl WiTh iT :pepe-shrug:

you're trying so hard & its so cringy

you can consider whatever group you like as the top group if that makes you sleep at night, but it won't change the reality.

  • I love charts. It is funny how uls dropped by 300k in less than 2 weeks

I am not a chart person, but I remember BTS Dynamite stable at 700k ULs after 2 month released. So...

Dynamite peaked at 680k and stayed around low 600k's for about seven weeks. Difference between then and now is that melon uls have continued to drop since and was at an all time low at the beginning of march.

Since the chart reform almost two years ago, only IU, Bigbang and some tv show projects have managed over 700k ul at all, and 700+ on the first day of release.

A bit ironically considering the topic, still life is the first song to spend more than a few days above 600k+ ul since dynamite.

I love charts. It is funny how uls dropped by 300k in less than 2 weeks

That is to be expected. This has always happened to songs peaking so high in the first day of release.

  • We will know soon enough.

700K ULs is the new bar.

Of course the bigger brands will hit that in first 24 hours and drop.

While the new hits will climb upto it.

Either way, 700K+ will establish the digital credentials.

Since Charts reform keeps happening at intervals, true digital monsters, will reestablish their impact after each reform.

IU has done it, Big Bang has done it.

BTS is yet to, after the last reform.

June is just few weeks away. We will know soon.

  • This is what I'm talking about!!!!

  • 10 bucks this is Drew. And they are the top group digitally of the 3rd gen.

  • 10 bucks this is Drew. And they are the top group digitally of the 3rd gen.

Wut? How can they be the top group digitally when they only can chart FOUR songs at #1 on Melon Daily Chart.

FOUR SONGS. Out of like 3040234820 singles they've released

Even Winner got three songs to #1 on Melon Daily. Twice got NINE songs. Even BP got three songs.

BTS overrated digitally in Korea and everyone knows it. Sure, they'll get their share of wins like Dyna and BWL, but they're also gonna take their share of losses like LGO, On, PTD and MU. Lots of acts have outcharted them since Dyna, even rookie groups like Ive and Aespa, and even non IU soloists like Justin hyung and Taeyeon noona.

  • This is what I'm talking about!!!!

Ok, but it is also unfair to declare they aren't Digimons, because they haven't yet broken 700K after the latest reform.

Their earlier track record shows that they have been only second to IU in the past few years, when it comes to ULs.

So the possibility that they will do so again with a properly promoted Korean language song is very high.

  • Hello Blackpink House, or Izone House or Twice House, or whatever you call yourself these days. This forum's version of the 40 year old virgin. Except your movie wouldn't be funny at all would it? just really sad.

BTS is global group, they are on a different level now. They rub shoulders with the biggest artists in the world, their peers don't give a fuck about Korea, why should they? Let the digimons or whatever moniker are attributed to these little kpop groups continue, BTS has bigger fish to fry, let the kpop groups work 23 hour days and go to Music Bank lmao

You brought up Justin Bieber, and it's kinda hilarious because do you think him or his label or management care about Korean charting? I'm sure even Koreans don't really care about Korean charting, just chart nerds and kpop fans lol In the end BTS will continue to make the music they want to make, sell out stadiums, sell millions of albums, and you will be on this forum crying about Izone, or Olivia Rodrigo or whatever chick you chose to token stan on that day.

    anything to discredit bts lol

you'd think their own faves have been beating bts for centuries for them to act as if they don't deserve the top spot... bts is bigger internationally & nationally than whatever group they think deserves their place.

    That doesn't work that way.

Justin Bieber's home market is also the largest market. So he need not care about other smaller markets.

Whereas BTS has to win both their home market and the largest market.

If they don't, that they aren't the best in their home territory will remain a point of discussion.

Some fans may care about it, some may not. That's upto them.

But a comparison can't be made of Bieber and BTS, as competing in the same contexts.

    BTS has it tougher.

  • So? BTS has the world to conquer.

That group can have Korea, since Korea loves that group very much despite their controversies.

  • Why not just wait two months until bts comeback and you have have your dick measuring contest in which group is the biggest in digitals in korea?

I said that i will wait their next comeback so it's not like i don't consider them, i just think they aren't that dominant as people say.

You said a lot but you didn't deny that Bts dominance is literally more like a illusion like this user stated :/

  • But I'll seriously laugh if BTS doesn't manage even to crack 800k, do you think it's easy to reach that number? Cool, now I'll wait Bts and see how stable their numbers will be.

Expecting anyone to crack 800k these days is insane. Not even IU can do that consistently nowadays, and bigbang doing it was five years in the making with countless scandals inbetween, people were curious which gave it extra boosts. Only one i could see besting still life is IU if she goes another year or so without any comeback, that is if melon uls does not continue to drop.

  • But I'll seriously laugh if BTS doesn't manage even to crack 800k, do you think it's easy to reach that number? Cool, now I'll wait Bts and see how stable their numbers will be.

They might not reach that number and it won't matter one bit so you can laugh in advance.

BB got it mostly because of curiosity after a hiatus of many years. There's no such thing with BTS because they are always around one way or another.

And for BTS, Melon is just a part of their success. At this point, it's not even top 5 priority.

When Melon had a lot of listeners, did bts crack the 1m uls? You make sound as if they were always at the top of Melon despite coming consistently.

Yes BB had the long hiatus nostalgia working for them.

But rest sounds like you are preemptively excusing BTS, expecting that they won't hit 700K+

Sure they have other achievements, but one can win the World, yet if they can't win at home, the achievements will still feel dimmed.

I think BTS well do well on Melon ULs as well.

They might not best BB or IU, each time, but still will be among the top 5, which is good enough to be a digital monster.
