Do you use Portable AC during summer ?

my building turns off the AC twice a year during seasonal transition periods to save money when they feel like the weather is tolerable without it.
it always feels like hell, so i have an air purifier and mini fan i use that whole time.
they stopped doing it since the pandemic started though, prob bc people stayed indoors more.

my home is quite cold so i never really have any issues during the summer, i never use fans of ac or anything at anytime during the year.
when i lived in an appartment i also didn't use anything because i didn't feel like spending 20 bucks on a piece of plastic or tech or whatever that would just be used for a couple of months and then thrown in the trash i would just go nude and ride it out.

I have something better than that. I have ducted cooling in my house which I didn't have to use as our summer wasn't a particularly hot one for a change.

One thing to keep in mind is that they can be a tad noisy, but I usually find the background hum somewhat soothing, like white noise. It helps me sleep during those sweltering nights. However, here's a little tip: Make sure to keep your portable AC well-maintained. Sometimes, if you neglect cleaning it, you might end up with mold issues, and that's no fun at all.Speaking of mold, if you ever have to deal with mold problems, I found an article that talks about using ozone generators to kill mold: https://www.damagecontrol-911.com/. It might come in handy during those hot, humid summers.

Do not buy these please. It does not work at all. The whole idea is that you put cold water and ice in it and the fan will blow the mist from the tank supposedly creating cold air.
But, here’s the thing, if you already live in a semi humid environment, it wont work because your room needs to be able to hold the cold moisture the fan is projecting. In humid environments, the amount of mositure in the air is already at its peak and adding more will either not make a difference or make it worse actually (more humid). - this is why dehumidifiers exist by the way, to suck water out of the air.
It might work in the winter when there is a lot more dryness and you can feel the cold moisture but all in all, it’s a useless piece of 💩
It’s not strong enough anyway. My advice: If you don’t have an AC either buy an actual unit or just get a big fan.
