No bbhot100? No western big fandom? Mama snooze fest performance

  • Well according to some Blinks (based on how they kept using that one performance to brag), Coachella is the pinnacle of success, so I’m not really surprised :p

LOL NO u dont know what u are talking about. It is as funny as army bragging BTS being the only one performed in AMA/grammys

Coachella is not about bragging at all. But Blinks will forever think Coachella was the iconic moment as Blackpink gained many fans from that event in US and also that Rosé's legendary fancam. Stop pitting Blink against Mys

  • I see. I just looked up Coachella on Wikipedia to get a bit more background information as well.

So we on AKP often use the term "nugu" to describe lesser-known artists. Would it be fair to say that most of the acts performing at Coachella could be described as such?

As someone who doesn't really follow "Western" music, I guess I'm just trying to get a sense of how popular these acts are.

It's a combination - many of them are niche, where they have a small but devoted fandom but are not mainstream (like, say, Dreamcatcher). Others are well known in their country but would be pretty nugu in America - so the way that someone who into kpop knows who Red Velvet or Seventeen are (big in another country and big in that niche in America), but not known outside of it. Does that make sense? Like Karol G is huge in Latin pop (she has 51M followers on IG), but if I asked most Americans, they wouldn't know who she is.

  • they could be part of 88Rising's slots? You'll notice Jackson and CL aren't on here either because they were part of 88Rising's slots..

  • If they are under 88rising, they would've tweeted it after SM releasing the news

88rising hasn't claimed or promoted anything about aespa so far. Also, afaik 88rising hasn't following any aespa official accs.

    Oh well.. :pepe-peek:

    I don't care who's inviting them actually

I was hoping they aren't under them because most of their acts were lipsync :pepe-shame:

intially I was happy 88rising hasn't tweeted anything and now I'm just hoping that aespa is an outlier so that at least they will let them sing live some of their setlist

That makes sense. It's interesting that you mentioned Karol G, since she was actually one of the few artists I recognized from the line-up (even though I can't name a single song of hers). So overall, my notion of what Coachella is has changed; there's more diversity than I previously thought.

It is a music festival. It is meant to have diverse range of music (u can notice from the lineup there are pop, rock, indie bands, DJs, urban hiphop etc)

"nugu" literally means "who". So if someone tells you the name of an artist and you say "who?" then they, to you, are nugu.

The next step is to figure out if many people would have that same response.
