What do you think about the up-coming "The Lord of the Rings" TV series?

  • Are you excited about it?

    Will you check it out?

    Do you have high expectations?

The series will be made by Amazon and from what I know, the action of the story will be set around 1000 years before the trilogy movies.

I heard it was also expensive af to make it lol. They spend at least 1 billion dollars until now for it.

  • excited but I'm more excited about Game of Thrones prequel, and Vikings spin-off.

  • "House of the Dragon"? Yeahh, me too <3 I love Game of Thrones and I love Targaryens :D

Anyways, I'm also curious about LOTR and I will definitely watch that as well. I loved all the movies (+The Hobbit) and I have the books at home.

I'm not a fan of Vikings though.

Yeah but they already effed things up, there is House Velaryon which is basically like same bloodline with Targaryens yet they did "racial swap"... which shouldn't happen in this case because they are described in books as those with pale skin, silver hair and some of them had purple eyes.

I read a bit of backlash for this on Quora recently. I do agree with you though, diversity is good but it shouldn't be at odds with what the source material decided as canon.

  • It's not exactly an "I don't like it" as much as it's an "I remember seeing some scenes at one point but I never picked up the series and it's not on my watch-list at the moment" kind of thing :wellr:

that's sad! it has some amazing storylines! and well acting is great

  • Don't need it, the movies were perfect and they're not going to find a better Aragorn, Frodo, Sam, Gandalf or Gimli anywhere. The Hobbit, on the other hand...

But they're not remaking the movies. The action will be set 1000 years before the movies' action, the source material will the JRR Tolkien's "Silmarillion", I think, which is a collection of stories from the The First Age until the Third Age (with The War of The Ring).

  • I will watch it eventually when I'll have some more free time on my hands.

Anyways, do you know anything about the second season of The Witcher (if you watched the series)?

filming! there were two gaps because of covid and one was also made longer because Henry Cavill had an injury.

But there is good news that since the beginning of February they are filming 6 days per week, and like all the time days and nights!

there is also ongoing casting to spin-off/prequel "The Witcher: Blood Origin" which will be set 1200 years before the main series. At this point, it seems like limited 6 episodes series, but you know how it is... if it will be a hit then they will probably make more seasons.
