Are ballads kpop songs ?

i think kpop should be renamed as kmusic because there's no way kpop is able to fit such diverse genres that exclude anything besides pop music

Kpop is basically just short hand for "Korean idol pop music." It's why you see artists like Dreamcatcher included as "kpop" but artists like Jambinai included as "k-rock." You could make the argument that Dreamcatcher skews rock influenced enough, but it's the idol aspect too, not just the specific genre the idol is singing.

I feel like ballads are so integral to a lot of kpop because ( ya'll can't stop hatin on ballads lmao ) they are so prevalent among kpop groups and soloists. I'd say its a sub-genre, a specialization of sorts.

Anyway Kassy does the best ballads sometimes imo although her rap is always timeless!!

K-POP is more than just a genre to me, you can get all sort of different sounds and it still be classified as being under the label of K-POP.

I mean, to me, when someone says the word "K-POP" I always assume they mean music released by a Korean-based group or soloist. So yes, I classify a full English song promoted internationally by a Korean-based group still KPOP

I think Ballads are the most under rated genre of music out there

the music between 2020- present suck

there have only been a few good songs and they are close to ballads or have been a good repetative sound that i like and Ballads have been rare

i dont hear them too much in k-pop

but usually they are a B-side

i will forever love Ballads!

I don't think it would be separated - I wouldn't separate in any other genre of music. R&B ballads are just..well R&B ballads.
