I would say 99 percent of songs are improved by the rap. Like Psycho, Irene's rap line is the second best part of the song, the falsetto prechoruses are the best of course.
I love sing rapping, talk rapping, any kind of lyrical rapping that almost all Kpop bands do.
The minute they start churning out stuff like this is the minute i leave Kpop forever

depends on the song and the rapper
Loona doesn't have set rappers or a rapline ( different members rap in different songs)
They do have what you can call rapping but it's mostly light talksinging so it doesn't take away from the melody of the song
Now that's good
It offers variety but not distraction
oh that's interesting that they don't have a set member that does the rapping. I'll have to check them out

OMG, are you reading my mind!? I was legitimately going to make this same thread today.
I have never questioned rap in KPOP because all the groups I have listened to have always had a rapper, but recently I have noticed a lot of people don't like the rap parts for some reason and feel they can do without it.
Me personally, I don't think KPOP songs NEED rap parts, but I like them. Like Twice raps get criticized a lot as taking away from the song, but I actually like the obligatory rap part in Twice's songs. I like the switch up, and it offers a nice change in the melody. I think that's the benefit of having raps in KPOP songs.
But, listening to Eleven, I was shocked that there was no real rap part in the song and I did not even realize it. And it is perfectly fine without it.
So while KPOP songs don't NEED rap parts, I think I prefer them being around versus gone completely.
Lol, yup, i was reading your mind all day today. Also, you should be ashamed of yourself!
Yeah, I don't think it's necessary but I love how rap breaks switch things up too. I don't like harsh spitting or shouting kinds of raps too much but if the rapper is good working with and accenting the melody and rhythms of the song, I'm all for it. I tend to prefer rappers who can also sing. I find they sound more pleasing to my ear even when they're rapping.

Depends, there were songs that feels empty without rap while some songs feels like rap is forced to be there.

it'll be interesting to say the least
the first kinda ? rap in their solos was actually the main vocal
and then their real rapping came from ........ another main ( rather lead ) vocal
and this one seemed serious about it so people thought she was gonna be the main rapper
but then she hasnt rapped that much either since then
every member nearly has rapped here and there
they all do a decent job but no one is really a "Rapper" rapper
its usually a singsong rap
