Eman's Top 60 Songs Of Second Gen (Girl Group Edition)
Hello all. It's Eman.
Once. Sone. Yoona and Tzuyu Stan.
I've been in kpop since 2007.
Every since my friend in college introduced me to this wonderful world of Korean pop outside of Chinese class on that fateful day, I've been enchanted.
And I've been hooked ever since.
Today I thought I'd share my favorite songs of 2nd generation. With some rules.
Rule #1: Girl Groups or female soloists only. (Maybe I'll do a boy group version later)
Rule #2: Limit 2 songs per group in Top Ten. Keeps me from going all in on my biases.
Rule #3: Songs 60-11 are listed Alphabetical by group. It would be too insane to try to rank them.
Rule #4: Using more or less 2013 as the 2nd gen cutoff. But I'm grandfathering in a few songs by 2nd gen groups that were released up to 2015. (Using TWICE debut as a hard cutoff for my grandfather rule).
That's it!
Enjoy! Comment! See if we have the same favs! And share your own favorites if you want!

10.
AOA - Short Hair
Album: Ace Of Angels (2015)
This song produced the dance practice to end all dance practices. Legendary. Seolhyun killed half of kpop.
09.
FX - Dracula
Album: Red Light (2014)
So Haunting. So Cool. FX at their most epic.
08.
EXID - Call
Album: Hippity Hop (2012)
Emblematic of one of my favorite styles of 2nd gen. Beautiful feminine R&B mixed with smooth cool raps.
07.
CRAYON POP - Dancing Queen
Album: Dancing Queen (2012)
Quirky, fun, and epic. A gem from one the most underrated groups in kpop.
06.
GIRLS DAY - Tilting My Head
Album: Girls Day Party #1 (2010)
Often derided as trash and a song many GIRLS DAY Stans would like to forget. Unabashedly quirky kpop banger. The type of charm kpop had in spades in 2nd gen. I will go to my grave proclaiming it one of kpop's best songs. Reassess non-believers.
05.
WONDER GIRLS - Do Go Do Go
Album: Wonder World (2011)
One of my favorite R&B ballads in kpop. So beautiful. So soulful. WONDER GIRLS are truly that group.
04.
AFTER SCHOOL - Because Of You
Album: Virgin (2009)
My favorite example of the type of feminine R&B/smooth rap hybrid 2nd gen did so well. Absolutely iconic.
03.
SNSD - Into The New World
Album: Girls Generation (2007)
The song that started it all. My introduction to kpop on that fateful day in 2007. Brings tears to my eyes everytime I hear it. This was the beginning of my kpop journey like so many others. And the start to kpop's most legendary girl group.
02.
KARA - Don't Be Shy
Album: The First Blooming (2007)
My favorite song from my favorite album in kpop. Their debut album is often overlooked in KARA's discography. But it is a gem. Old school R&B. Cute unadorned rapping that has a youthful amateur charm. There's just something magical about this song. I've listen to it thousands of times. And it remains in my top 5 kpop songs of all time.
01.
SNSD - So Nyeo Shi Dae
Album: Girls Generation (2007)
This is it. The song. If I had to summarize my love of kpop and this entire industry in one song, this is the one. I'm instantly transported back to when I first got into this wonderful world of kpop. When it was new and fresh. And there was this whole new exciting world just waiting to be explored. This song taps into the very core of why I love kpop. And will forever be. Kpop. To me.
