stereotype is much better. I guess people are tasteless
i def prefer Stereotype too

But Stereotype is doing better than ASAP on both Youtube and Spotify, no?
So it's just korean digitals. I don't think the timing was bad, it's just not always easy to predict how a song will do with Korean GP anyway. And even if ASAP was a hit it was not as big as songs like Next level or Rollin or Non stop/ Dolphin last year, so even if they had some hype it was not on the same level as other groups.
It's not really an exception though, Somi's XOXO also didn't do well on K-charts despite Dumb Dumb being succesful for instance.
it's a bop
but it doesn't have the catchiness of Asap neither an addictive choregraphy
Asap start to do well when everybody start to do the choregraphy
it didn't start to do well first because of the song itself,
and sadly they forgot this part of the success of ASAP, when they came back with Stereotype
Although I love both songs, I prefer "STEREOTYPE" over "ASAP." I'm saying this as a fervent STAYC appreciator.
To answer this, and this is merely my own speculation as someone who doesn't follow or care about numbers:
"ASAP" is just easier to follow along and understand in terms of lyrics and song meaning. It's extremely "high teen," a concept that the Korean general public loves. It also has something that evokes a sense of nostalgia, reminding people of 2nd-gen K-pop.
"STEREOTYPE" has a rather deep meaning about being misjudged; it's not as easy for people to follow along. Secondly, in choreography, "A$AP" has a really captivating dance, especially during the chorus. "STEREOTYPE" still has the iconic factor to its choreography, just not as much as "ASAP."
This is the corrected answer here. It applies to anyone. Butter to PTD. Next Level to Savage. Rollin to Chi Bat Ma Ram. It's just these songs that I mention here are way bigger than ASAP, so their subsequent release had better charting, but it's not close to the hit they release earlier.
Alos, forgot about Dalla Dalla too.
Choose a narrative akp, now stereotype is bad after the whole bullying of ASAP like pick a side
Also listen to this instrumental
I can see how people are preferring ASAP or So Bad over this one but it was still successful and charted in a time when a lot of big hits or bug artists dominated the charts
The song was boring compared to asap that was catchy
Charting high on the charts isn't easy for anyone
They are doing really good, to be awarded with 2 trophies at the Golden Disk for a 4th gen group is not an easy thing to do
There's nothing wrong with Stereotype, it didn't chart stronger than ASAP but that doesn't mean there's something wrong with it.
It's not that big of a problem like how people are making it out to be.
