he’s a visual, gets lot of center time, always catches attention for his outfits and dancing, his solo songs seem to do the best in the West, then why is his album sales still not as high as Baekhyun/Chanyeol, his latest album drops in sales, he doesn’t have a high charting solo song like DO in Korea, Xiumin and Chen, though have fewer parts than him, also seem to have as much public recognition in Korea as him?
why is kai from exo not more popular?

The others whose songs charted higher are vocalists whereas Kai isn't really one. And they charted really high when Exo were still active and had a lot more presence in Kpop and among the gp. Kai's songs were released after some members enlisted and when Exo was in a hiatus. Album sales are about having a dedicated fandom, not really that much about being popular among Kpop fans or the gp, that's why boy groups sell a lot more than girl groups even if girl groups and their music are generally more popular, as boy groups have more dedicated fans(probably because they can sell parasocial relationships to Kpop fans better). It could be that Baekhyun and Chanyeol are just better in selling parasocial relationships than Kai. But I do think kai is one of the more popular members(if not the most) in Exo among the gp.
