Somi is a bit more complicated because she debuted in IOI, which was a temporary group that was only active for 8 months. The premise behind Produce 101 was that the girls would promote in IOI for a short time, disband, and then debut in their company's next girl group. Somi's first permanent group would have been Itzy, one of the first 4th gen groups, if she hadn't left. Instead she debuted as a soloist a few months after Itzy. That's why I consider her both 3rd and 4th gen.

Produce has slowly moved away from that premise over time, with the temporary groups lasting longer, so the groups have seemed more permanent (and there was a credible attempt to actually make Izone permanent).
