It's MAMA week! So all the choreo posts this week will be tied into performances at MAMA.
I've been saving the WayV Take Off choreo for just this moment because they made their MAMA debut with an outstanding performance of this! WayV's first videos and choreos were readapted NCT 127 choreos, so this is their first choreo, created by the "Japanese queen of swag" who we've seen earlier in Regular, Hot Sauce, Boss and We Go Up.
This is a great choreo with lots of movement and it's definitely a stronger, more aggressive choreo than a lot of the more fluid ones they have later. The main dancers are Ten (in the bucket hat) and YangYang (in the black jeans with holes in the knees).
It's worth noting here (and you'll see in the performance too) that WayV has always pushed its main vocalists to the front in dance formations rather than hiding them in the back (usually because they are weaker dancers - that's not what they were hired for, tbh. As always "weaker" in NCT is a matter of context. These are all very strong dancers to do these choreos!) Kun and Xiaojun are much stronger dancers today, but you can see here that they are up front for large portions in a way their counterparts in NCT 127 are not (Taeil, Doyoung). This is still consistent to their dance style today where they frequently swap places with the dance line.
We've seen the Moonwalk choreo already, but I highly recommend watching the combination in the MAMA performance because it's really well executed. The transition between the two songs is just chef's kiss at 3:17-3:44.
