Yes, last year they were confirmed for the event ceremony as "NCT", but this time they were confirmed as their respective sub-units: NCT Dream, NCT 127 and NCT U, which means they'll not be performing as NCT (21 members).

Maybe they specifically mentioned the subunits bc WayV as a whole can't perform (I feel like I remember seeing people say Ten couldn't make it either), but wanted to emphasize that 127 and Dream would have their own separate segments. I can't imagine them all not coming together and performing at some point.

A rookie group wouldn’t close the ceremony. BTS could have done a taped performance while they were in CA or provide an exclusive concert footage.

Otherwise it will be NCT or the Wanna One reunion. They will want a large fandom or moment to spike the viewing numbers and social buzz.

I agree. There’s no way they’re not using one of the biggest awards shows to flex a full unit performance during a full unit album.

Ten won’t be able to clear quarantine in time with the new restrictions. They left it too late.

They surely haven't finished announcing acts - if BTS were meant to go and hadn't been announced yet, I feel like there's another line-up left to be revealed that will probably include Twice and Seventeen
