I don't understand the logic in shipping...

  • How can shipping be such a popular thing?? I don't understand how easily idols are shipped with one another like ??? I have never in my entire life shipped anyone, be it idol, actor, popular people, whatever kkk anyone. I don't see how 2 people breathing in the same room gives the idea that they love each other or that they are compatible.... I ship myself with my celebrities crushes, but this is bc I know my type, but shipping famous people just bc they look good together? Or bc they are smiling or looking at each other? This is my opinion kkk but I do ship friendship. The one I don't is the ship about LOVE, DATING etc, this one here is strange. :pepe-legs:

Edit: I'm obviously talking about the bad ones.

  • You don't have to understand it because nobody is forcing you to partake in it. Some people like shipping and they find an outlet in the act. It's that simple.

I know there are a lot of people that go overboard and are gross about it, but shipping is inherently harmless. Making up a fantasy in your head about two people and sharing it with a few close friends is not going to hurt anyone unless you become weird about it and want to show people that your ship is real, which lol, it's not.

  • It really is strange to me. I really laugh at the ridiculous post about ships, for example I saw this Lizkook video and it said that Lisa was somehow sad because jungkook did not visit her in her dressing room? no logic or anything just straight up lies. I will give it to shippers, they have lots of creativity.

For real! The logic is like 1+2= √75 kkkkkkk

  • 1. Companies are to blame. They do push certain idols to act a certain way to entertain this fantasy.

    2. Now, why does this fantasy exist? Honestly, my analysis of it is that fans think so highly of their idols that they only want for them what the fan perceives as IDEAL or PERFECT for them. Often, they ship them with the closest thing to their idol, and usually thats...the other idol in the same group. Why? They like them both AND it means that they aren't out there dating other people.

Companies UNDERSTAND that, and nourish this type of fantasy for monetary gain. Why? Fans feel safe in that fantasy = fosters higher loyalty = $$$. It gives their business a whole fourth dimension! Fans are out there creating art, stories and even merch from this. It ends up often being stan attractor, and the cycle continues.

Same thing for let's say inter-group shipping. Now that's not exactly the scope of the companies. But kinda...indirectly, against their will. This whole relationship ban in kpop makes a certain type of fans long for Romeo & Juliet stories. Again, they look for another idol that they see as ideal for their idol (gorgeous, famous, handsome, successful, rich, talented etc.) and make things out of thin air. Sometimes, true couples are uncovered through these pink-lenses, and it pushes this type of fan to keep looking and drawing arrows. In the end, this whole shipping culture is just ill-oriented reassurance from fans that is fostered by the companies.

  • You are completely correct.

OK, you must be a shipper to come somewhat aggressive at me kkkk

The problem is that in K-pop the shippers are gross and 70% go overboard. I'm obviously talking about the exaggerated ones. It's not like they don't exist. They do and they are loud and they bring hate and they hate idols. This is beyond a cute fantasy between friends.

  • Yes, companies for sure push these ideas too.

  • Because people don't treat them like real people, they treat them as fictional characters.

Which, to be fair, is encouraged.

Once again it doesn't matter as long as shippers aren't trying to force their fictional fantasies into reality. Same thing as 'shipping yourself with an idol'. It's fine as long as you don't completely delude yourself thinking that you are/should be dating them.

I'm not a real person shipper, no. I've never been one.

The wording of your initial post didn't really give me the vibe that you were talking about the exaggerated ones, but shipping in general.

  • Imagine then fighting because my ship is better than yours.

Or shitting on my fave because she was shipped with your fave.

    (Yes, you kookers)

Or shitting on my fave because she was shipped with the same person as your fave.

    (Yes, you lizkookers)

  • The only "romantic" shipping I've done was for Twice but all Once know that they're either joking or Twice members are really gae. That's an inside joke between Twice and Once. It wouldn't really make since for some other groups.

I love friendship ships though. I think it's especially weird to ship in a group where they don't do it as a joke or if they aren't in the same group. In general, I think romantic shipping is really weird with few exceptions (very few exceptions that reasonable)
