Is BTS the only group in history everyone can unanimously agreed is #1?

But when they were rising up, I distinctly remember people kept downplaying and giving reasons like ohh they don’t have stadium tours yet.. oh their digitals are not as good yet.. and ARMY at that time really rally around and try to push BTS as high as they can get so people can’t even give a hint of a doubt about BTS again.. in every metrics.
It was a long and hard work for BTS and ARMY. Now you see like they get a lot of achievements easily but it was because of the very strong foundation they built earlier on and keep on reinforcing every step of the way.
Damn why am I writing essays? Lol
don't feel bad about writing essays bc... well... i mean i'm insane
but literally this comment!!!!>>>>>

Well, it can't be "unanimous" if not everyone agrees. But if we exclude those who have some weird irrational chip on their shoulder towards BTS, then yes. However, that would mean a third of AKP (at the very least) would cease to exist for the purposes of this discussion. So...
TL;DR: You asked in the wrong place.

Not in Korea. Everywhere else, yes.
BTS outsold every single group digitally and physically, not to mention touring. Keep this ass take to yourself next time.

TWICE had less digital sales compared to BTS and that was before Persona, 7, Dynamite, BE, Savage Love Remix, Butter, PTD, or My Universe.
And Next Level is the only aespa song that has "beaten" BTS on charts. Savage is doing well but it's only been out for 7 weeks. No telling how far more SMTM and Xmas songs will push everyone on the charts down for over a month. aespa will reach 1 billion digital points by the end of this year; BTS is crossing 3.6 billion this week.
Ass take #2 & #3.

We don’t really need a clash though to compare who made more impact.
There are records and sales available for us to gauge who owned 1st Gen. I mean STB held the best selling album in Korea until BTS happened so there’s that. They were historic for a group that was active for only 4 years
I still find it fascinating how BTS is still breaking records set by STB. Especially when dynamite happened. That just shows that it took a group like BTS to break these records STB are legendary in all ways
Korea calls Seo Taiji 'President of Culture' and H.O.T 'Top idol group of the 1990's.' It's a stalemate.
