Did I imagine kpop fans in 2016-2017 dragging Army for being too invested in BTS lyrics and lore theories????

    Inspired by this thread- Ever see an opinion about your fav that is so stupid that it made you laugh?


    Maybe it's been a long time and these new waves of kpop fans BTS brought in must have drowned out the noise, but I vividly remember many kpop fans back than telling us to chill out and that it's just music. Even went as far to call BTS fake deep/woke because we were loud about their lyrics every chance we got. And also pressed that we couldn't stop talking about hyyh theories in all their songs/references. I remember one kpop fan telling me that BTS were tryhards with it all and now fast forward 2021, it's BTS was never famous for their music and lores now being glorified when it used to be shunned heavily? (well in BTS case) I feel like I warped into a different dimension and was asleep for these last five years.

    No, people really did it back in the day, they would complain about how they liked kpop songs to be brighter and just fun

    They would also complain about armys YouTube comments who were absolutely harmless and the whole western validation thing and calling the bbmas paper award etc and how “concerned” they were about BTS being taken advantage by these big awards just for popularity

    The craziest thing for me was that so many people didn’t realize how toxic they were with this stupid narrative back then

    I've always thought that antis and haters achieved the opposite of their intent. All the hate and the disdain only helped BTS and Army to become stronger and more driven, and reach the heights that they have.


    So when u see these salty, angsty, angry nerds crying about BTS, don't get mad, thank them :-)

    to this day jealous kpop stans are still on about bts being "fake woke" or manipulating fans using mental health just bc they...talked about their own mental health. itwill always be strange to me how this gross treatment of bts and their ability to touch so many people and amass a fanbase bc of their handling of these topics is normalized. why does bts of all groups deserve that kind of criticism for doing things other groups would be and are championed for? they never did anything to deserve having their message twisted and ripped to shreds

    ahh the good old days with kpoppies ..throughout the years though, I have learned to just sit back and watch karma do its magic ..over and over again. BTS and ARMYS always have the last laugh. I mean, look at what happened to the entire industry- it has truly shifted. Who would've thought. Now them and their faves are all scrambling trying to catch up :shake-it:

    OMG it so true and kinda scary!! Karma really is an ARMY (so cliche yet that’s the best way to say it!!)

    Yes, there was that side of it. But there was another side too, with some Army's fetishizing BTS's profound lyrics and dragging any group that released a song with simple lyrics. Because if your fave's new release doesn't inspire you to want to write a thesis what's the point?


    That's why their current phase has been refreshing. Ever since Dynamite the dissertations have been dropped, which is maybe a shame because they'd probably be fun to read now, and simple fun lyrics are now the thing everyone should be doing. Good...
