they had bad luck because they didn't blow up until after BTS hit their stride, I think they could have had a shot at winning song of the year but then Love Scenario happened in 2018 and Kill This Love was probably their least popular Korean lead single in 2019. Both How You Like That or Lovesick Girls probably would have won somewhere if they had been released in 2019, but in 2020 Any Song and ofc Dynamite were way too huge.

This year probably would have been their best chance since 2018 but they didn't even release music like you said. And now as great as their sales are 17/NCTs are both getting 2million plus range (17 had 1.41 million pre-orders first day so I feel 2 million is all but guaranteed now) so even though BTS didn't release an album BP probably won't be able to win album of the year either (and IU will probably win that at MMA due to her huge streaming advantage over everyone). Overall it doesn't really matter because they're so immensely successful but it will be such a weird historical quirk that such an enormously popular and important group never won a Daesang. Especially with all the little attendance Daesangs that they have nowadays.

It's not BP's lack of Song releases that stops them from winning a Daesang, it's just that they debut in an era where there were Idols that dominated the public and media interests in SK and that their songs didn't chart high enough at the end of the year to beat the eventual Daesang winners
