4th Gen started with Itzy, but i think it's ok to include a few of the 2018 groups like Idle and SKZ. All three groups just feel like junior groups to me with CLC, Got7, and Twice being their label's respective senior 3rd gen groups.
Next year we could see the 4.5 generation groups, with HYBE GGs, JYP GGs and BG, and YG GG.
Not really. Generation are more about timing than "achivements"
I’ve always maintained that 2020 is the start of 4th gen.
It makes no sense that 3rd gen lasted only 5 years lol. People just want to give their favs achievements so they lump them with 4th gen.
Nothing significant happened in 2018 or 19 for that matter.
When EXO started a new gen it was because they did something big. You can’t just arbitrarily start a new gen cuz y’all felt like it.
Anyway there is no science in the end. If a lot of ppl say something is a gen, then that’s what it is.

A few months ago I made a thread about how I thought 4th generation didn't start yet because it felt like 3rd generation groups were still running the show. But after watching Aespa kill it on all fronts this year and groups like SKZ, TXT and Enhypen already selling or projected to sell 1M per album, I think 4th generation started this year.
