Noob question: Why do idols from active groups compete on survival shows like GP999?

Because its a win win senario.

If they win they get to be in a way more successful group and make way more money

if they lose they still get more fans and publicity through the show

if ur making like -2 dollars a year then u need either a new group or publicity for ur nugu group, both of which can be found from survival shows

Because Nu'est happened.

Usually to gain popularity. Usually the groups are underfunded where they come from or their contracts are almost up so this is kinda their last chance to rekickstart the group.

Very similar reason for Queendom/Kingdom too, OMG got sooo much more publicity despite losing the competition (they were honestly the true winners of the season in that case)

Because a lot of people don't know their groups exist.

Cherry Bullet is getting the most attention, but even then you only named 2 of the 3 members that are on the show.

You also didn't mention any of the 3 members from Fanatics. Or the 1 member from Limesoda. Or the 1 member from Bvndit.

And it brings more attention to the group. This was very evident with Nu’est and other idols who went on. And in cases like Yujin & Kaeun were the group is (most likely) disbanded

Money and for many Idols, it's also their last chance to get noticed.

I would also compete in every show possible if i was in a group named cherry bullet.

The Survival Show sees it as a quick guaranteed way to get some extra viewers for the Show, people already know Yujin from CLC, so would tune in Initially for her, and in Theory get attached to other Girls and stick around even if Yujin was Eliminated

I am fine with this, so long as the Survival Show is accepting of that Idol potentially winning the Show, they should not invite anybody on who they do not want as part of the Debut group. I am sick of Surivival Shows having contestants they don't really want to debut participate, so they go about trying to Manipulate the Audience into not voting for them with deceptive editing, it seriously ruins these types of shows for me, and they only do it because they have pre approved acceptable final lineups from the higher ups in the Company.
