Please explain kpop Generations to me!

I always thought that is something that Kpop fans made up lmao

There is no 4th generation.

Is just something people made up because BP and Twice are the biggest girls groups in kpop (Girl groups)

1st Gen: The late 90’s to early 2000’s.

- Started with Seo Taji and boys.

- Ended with TVXQ

2nd Gen: Early 2000’s to 2011-ish.

- Started with Super Junior

3rd Gen: 2012-2017

- Started with EXO

- Ended with groups that debuted at the end of 2017: Golden Child/ONF, ect.

4th Gen: Basically The Boyz and any groups after them that started their promotion in 2018 till now, as well as groups still coming out obviously.

And there's a confusion even among k-fans about 1.5 generation the times where alot of 1st gen are disbanding from 2000 - 2002 and the gap between 2002 until tvxq is what they call 1.5 generation .

The generation where soloist is big I remember seeing the article.

BoA,Hyori,Se7en,Rain,wheesung,etc.
