How hard it must be for IDOLS...

  • I would never ever want to be an idol. Too much stress and problems at a YOUNG age. Companies are terrible, and trainees go through it, especially young girls, and the problems just pile on as you debut and get big. I see so many idols clearly struggling with their weight (even though their already at a healthy weight) their looks, their fame, anything. Is it really that worth it? all the downsides just to get fame? I don't think it is.

  • In addition to all the great points made in this thread, tTo be an idol, you have to love the camera. You have to love being the center of attention, you have to be an extrovert, an exhibitionist. You have to love interacting with sometimes crazy fans, you have to enjoy being with people 24-7.

This is why i am continuously flabbergasted at how many idols are introverts. It's crazy to me. How can you live and breathe the "all go no rest" lifestyle of an idol while being an introvert?

And then the dark side of being a celebrity that no one wants to talk about. Kesha, Little Mix, One D they've all accused or alluded to power players in the industry trying to take advantage of them sexually, or abusing them mentally, or assaulting them physically. You can bet the same shady Hollywood casting couch and controlling shit happens in Kpop as well. Girls getting pressured by "sponsors", boys being physically beaten by managers, i'm sure it can really be brutal.

Another unreal part about all this? Most idols come from well off backgrounds, upper middle or extremely wealthy. They dont actually need to go through this shit, but for some reason, they do, even the ones that are the most introverted like Mina and Lisa.

  • There is actually a few clips in the Rise Of Bangtan that I really found disturbing. Jin is doing a vlog and he said one of the staff call him either fat or a pig. This was when BTS was getting ready to debut. Jimin of course as a pre debut teen was obsessive about his weight. Then there was another clip of an idol group and right now the name escapes me during a radio interview telling the host they were so weak from dieting that they were hooked up to IVs to finish their schedule.

Seriously fucked up shit. I see time and time again where idols congratulate each other on how slim they can become.

He said it was the pd not a staff that called him a pig. Which is worse because it’s someone above him.

  • And the majority don't even make money and are left in debt before an early disbandment

Even the idols the majority of us actually hear of probably don't make that insane of money unless they're at the top

Music industry is corrupt (probably all industries are corrupt in some way or another). But we've all seen and read the vids and articles of local artists talking about how they're being exploited by Warner, UMG, Sony, and the other labels. Just like how idols get snookered into these slave contracts where they barely see any money for many years. Only a select minority make decent money and only a very select few make the 10M+ we expect of our celebrities.
