Why is the 4th generation uneventful for the new groups?

4th gen basically just started, i still don't have an "official" opinion about them
so far, most groups have been uninteresting and absolutely forgettable
Only 4th gen group i'm somewhat interested in rn is Aespa just cause i generally like SM's group's music and ITZY but that's only cause they seem to be pretty entertaining, their music isn't rlly for me besides their bsides, they slap

Sometimes there are years where they aren't any good debuts and 2020 definitely was one of them the only relevant one I can think of is Aespa where as in 2019 we had TXT, Itzy and Everglow so it was a bit more interesting. It reminds me of 2013, BTS is the only relevant BG from that year and there's only one other BG who are still together but they aren't relevant at all.

well thats your opinion, but judging from newer group sales others don't feel the same. In bout 2 years time i reckon a good number of current 3rd gen stans are gonna turn into clones of those 2nd gen stans who constantly bemoan "the good ole days" of kpop, cycle always repeats itself.

Well, compared to 2019, there aren't too many interesting rookies. There weren't many in 2019 too tho - only txt and itzy which are the biggest 4th gen groups rn. They had huge debuts but what other groups did that well back then? Nobody else besides everglow. Meanwhile in 2020 we have treasure and enhypen - groups which are doing insanely well and already out charting, outselling other 4 gen groups. They're definitely gonna make a difference in the industry.
If we're talking about music wise, their music might not be everyone's cup of tea but that's normal, not everyone likes the same things. The only music i liked by 4th gen groups in 2019 was txt, itzy and everglow's meanwhile in 2020 it's enhypen's and some of treasure's
