I love snakes but if this happened to me I'd be terrified too

wow, was it a dangerous species?
last night i was sleeping in the livingroom with all the lights off but i was browsing my phone and i suddenly saw something the size of half my palm literally running on the carpet and hid under my sofa, needless to say i almost passed out lmao, i thought it was a scorpion which is literally impossible because they don't exist in my city and i live in the 4th floor anyway lol. So i went and turned the lights on and peeked under the sofa and turned out it was a huge ass cockroach 
this happened past 1am and i went and woke my sister up to come deal with it, i couldn't fall asleep for hours afterward because i kept imagining things crawling around.
my hometown is near the desert so seeing reptiles is very common, just last week i was told that my aunt found a serpent in her house and last night my niece found a scorpion in my brother's house but she still made sure to take a photo of it lol
a few years ago we had a museum near my family house and one of the attraction was a space for live desert animals. one day a tourist insisted they open the cages for him to see the animals directly and apparently they forgot to close one of them afterward, i was leaving my neighbor's house and going back home at the time when i found a bunch of kids gathered in front of our door and they told me that a "trutle" has just got inside, the only problem is one of them was actually crying in absolute terror, i was like????
now turtles are supposed to be slow right? but i couldn't find anything at the entrance or the stairs leading to the roof and that's when i realised something was wrong, i got inside carefully, looking around and there was nothing in the court (we have a traditional style house so there is a huge upon air space in the middle surrounded by rooms from all sides) then i went to look inside the first room only to find a huge ass lizard (almost the size of crocodile) stuggling to move on the marble flooring while literally seething, i swear to god his tail alone was almost the size of my arm and it could have definitely broken my leg with one lash. anyway, i started screaming for help and two of my neighbors came and one of them killed the lizard

that's what they all claim to have a snake in their bed...

where do you live that such horrendous creatures can sneak into your house?
My house has some bushes behind it.... and there's a small forest-like area (idk what it is called) about a 1km from my house....
ah but I mean what country etc.
