So, today Popline releases their interview with Blackpink
Know for being very acid, they started making very clear why the interview was so vanilla. Here is the restrictions imposed by YG (and very likely, the most kpop companies) when making interviews:
- Future music plans
- Personal or intimate relationships (i.e. dating)
- Mention other artists, specially other kpop artists
- Politics
- Philosophical subjects
- Racial issues
- Religious subjects
- Gender issues
If you know portuguese, you can read it here (or use google translate if you aren't familiar): https://portalpopline.com.br/entrevista-exclusiva-blackpink/
I'm not surprised at all kpop companies are avoiding controversy, but it makes me feel totally uninterested on kpop interviews. Indeed interviewing kpop acts must be the most boring activity ever knowing you can't ask anything interesting, personal or deep. The "black list" itself is more noteworthy than any of the answers by the way
