Why is JYP afraid of making a TWICE sub unit during breaks?

Oh...well I think each member has a pretty big individual fanbase...some more than others but it probably won't be a huge popularity gap between a member and the others

J-line as in Sana and momo cuz I don’t think Mina would want it. Given the opportunity I think she and tzuyu would be to last to have a solo. Subunits are great but I don't think all of them would want it and then the fan would be like “jyp biased” already tzuyu stans are complaining daily saying she is the most miss treated member, even saw some of them hating on the other members especially nayeon. I’m all for them have subs and solo but I think they should start with the members with loud solo stans unless it would be a shit show

This exactly. There are no breaks. People already complain that Twice does too much, and adding solos to that would be way too much. The solos would have to take the place of group work, and it has been said they don't want to lose focus on the group yet.
What we see as a "drought" is hardly that. They always have schedules and are always working on something. It can be TTT shoots, photoshoots, album recording, etc. which one of those should be given up so that the solo stuff can happen?

What breaks
Those girls are overworked as heck. When they finish Korean comeback they quickly have japanse comeback and the cycle repeats. Those few months break between Korean/japanese comebacks is even they’re working on new songs and choreo for their soon to be comebacks

They didn't had any major release (as in comeback) for the first four months of 2021 when they could have easily had a KR comeback in March/April with Kura Kura in May and another KR comeback in September. If they had done this we would have plenty of time for a sub-unit debut and some solo activites for the members.

Yeah I guess, but do keep in mind that albums take a long time to produce. The members said that the Eyes wide open full album started preparation at the start of 2020, so like 10 months… (of course it’d be less for mini albums though)
So I assume many of those “break times” are actually preparing for comebacks and choreographies, maybe Cf’s as well.
