Why do people keep the ones they want to hurt so close?

  • Gifting them things, complimenting them in public, pampering them?

I've noticed its always the people in authority positions who seem to do this often. Outsiders are so blinded by authority that they can never do anything wrong. I understand wanting to keep a good image outside but why follow through with threats in private. If you get hurt and don't keep up that facade in public or private they kick your damn door open. If you wanna distance yourself for the shit they do your cOlD, misunderstanding or petty or ungrateful.

The world's easier black and white where bad guys are recognised as bad guys no matter how many gifts or compliments they give. I don't understand the appeal of keeping your enemies close.

because information is key in modern age

the info/ dirt you have on someone the easier it is to expose them and such and only by keeping your enemies close can you make that happen

But isnt that taxing tho? I can barely spend a minute with someone I dislike. To pamper them even for a while would be impossible with those odd feelings gnawing at your chest. Unless they are really sick or hurt or are in an emergency. It's difficult to do that.

Plus once or twice after they rat out someone out the enemy grow wary of them. Threats can only get to them when they can be carried out. It won't work when they are far away and can easily ignore them.

Thinking about all the info I shared with you :eyes:

Same, I wouldn't want to spend a second on my 'enemies' or someone I don't like, it's such a waste of time and energy for me.

well then you should read/watch more examples of where this has happened in movies or dramas or even history... (especially chinese history)

it's not easy to dislodge someone when they are in high places or powerful people...you need to have enough support or 'dirt' in order bring about the long game...

short term gains might be easier but to truly destroy someone can be a work of art...

no i cannot comment on you personally since you have different perspectives than me but i'm just trying to explain why someone would do that

  • It looks like it requires a lot of effort and the person must sacrifice their empathy and conscience for a big takedown. The hatred must run strong. Nonetheless it's intriguing. Do you have any modern drama's or even old Chinese ones where there's a good takedown?

    Edit: especially books.

    Nirvana in Fire...best example...

but here's one from my friend...(irl)

she got a new job fresh outta technical college i guess and it was an entry level position and everything went well for about a month until her boss (male) starting cracking sexual jokes and other stuff but basically sexual harrassment...now she was new on probation and have no support...he was powerful, rich etc etc all your classic troupes...

now she liked the job but she was complaining about the boss to me and i said well right now there's nothing you can do about it since you have no evidence...no proof no dirt...his word against yours and well my friend would lose...besides she was still probated for another 5 months...I asked her if she was willing to do what it takes to get rid of him...

Long story short 5 more months of flirting/teasing/acting innocent and naive and once the probation period was over - my friend got a large hush money payout, a promotion, a raise and he ended up being fired and divorced as his wife found him waiting at a seedy motel waiting for my friend...

  • maybe maybe not... ;-)

another thing for selfmate to know and keaji to ponder...

I've always liked that word "ponder"

    Interesting!

hahah it's a funny word I must say...

  • Simply put people are built differently.. Some avoid others theydislike. Others like to take a more petty approach.

We are in a time that receipts and evidence is very necessary, depending on how driven you can be, displaying false pleasantries are a breeze but it also depends on how easily mislead and naive the target is. We tend to put our best foot forward when it's comes to work and school (any public places really) and create a diluted personality of ourselves for the world to see anyway... But in that respect can anyone really be trusted.

It does, seem like a lot of effort honestly.. But then i don't dislike anyone like that to make me want to blackmail them Into oblivion.

Although if I ever hated someone that much (i'd have to know them very well to even hate them and they did something extremely fucked up to me). I think watching them destroy themselves from the inside out would suffice... Less effort, its kinda like, plant a seed and watch it grow.

No one's better at destroy you than yourself after all. Mental Manipulation is a very dark art but also a gift at times.
