As a lot of 3rd Gen groups are approaching the end of their contract, this was something I was wondering.

What do you think is necessary for a group to last for a long time ?

First and foremost it has to be the members desire to be together, then the label/company support (assuming they stay in the same company or if they move to another, some company has to want them there unless they can make their own label/company).
Even groups with dwindling fanbases stay together, so its not just about fanbase IMO.

That's what I came to say, it depends on members' will to stay together first and foremost then stable fanbase

It depends on first the members desire to stay as a group, secondly the company still prioritising them and giving them all the opportunities and resources. Thirdly a loyal and understanding fanbase.

Besides success and fandom, I think one of the most important is the understanding between all the members in a group. If I'm not wrong, Shibhwa still has all of their OG until today in this year is their 23rd years old as a group. Of course, their fandom might become decline but it still a huge achievement as they managed to last long till today.

Twice is already a pretty 'old' group by kpop standard, and with so many members too ! Whatever they did, it definitely worked.
Still, I wonder if they will all renew their contract ?
